DBRXI Banter Thread
two weeks till I leave and now the REAL countdown begins. Last night I installed my Modifry Panavise. Slick little piece of work that item!. thursday night I drive to PA - NJ boarder for Jeff Evans to Tune my car and install new injectors and AEM ECU.
(I haven't heard back from Jeff about how they made out with Hurricane Irene - hopefully, they have no problems and are running according to schedule.

Just heard from Evans and the appointment is on! Strangely, one of our line crews is working across the Delaware river from there right now! Guess I'm living right Evans tuning has power and things are a GO!
Made my hotel reservation as well, and after the AAA discount rate at a Hampton Inn, Tapoco is looking pretty cheap! $160 for the night!!!!!!
All my plans end up coming down to the last minute anymore - I was literally picking up the car at the garage to leave for WTD this last spring and now here I am doing another major mod just before DBR. but it really was necessary - I've been having problems with the piggy back FVM unit leaning out in the 6K to 7K range and I just didn't want to take a chance on a 700 mile one way trip to the Dragon. the only car Jeff Evans can't tune is one thats dead, so if it isn't ready Friday, it never will be.

I've never had gloves or special shoes for driving in, hasn't seemed to hamper me much if at all. The only time I've worn them is in a race car and the nomex protection was required.
Honestly I worry when people show up with racing shoes/gloves/helmet because I feel like they're treating the Dragon like a track event, which is completely the wrong perspective.
Now if you're saying you want them for track days, diff story.

i have to say though that frei is the exception to that rule. i've driven with him quite a bit and never seen him exhibit reckless behavior
A couple years back we had an enthusiastic driver in FCPD that showed up with gutted interior, no passenger seat, R compounds, helmet, gloves, etc. It was amusing watching him try to stay with Bill, until I realized how much he was overdriving the car. He crossed the lines no fewer than 5 occasions in the process. Since then, I keep my eye on guys like that. Too bad I didn't have the camera running that day... I never did figure out who he was.

I'd wear gloves driving normally around town just because my hands sweat and it bugs me. My Piloti's are the only thing I wear in the S.
