just made it back to Ontario an hour ago. Perfect weather down in Fontana and surrounding area and no tickets…the 9500ix did its job. Interesting, on the way out of Fontana, say 7:30 am or so, about 1/2 mile from the top look out, the escort started going off with strong K band. I was literally doing the speed limit as April was nauseous on the first trip through a few days before and I didn't want to ruin her day, or my interior.
So, there was a police in his car parked on the road- flashed his lights at me, all the while, i couldn't find the mute on the detector. So he says "did you see any trees down on the way up?" ME: "um, no trees down." (any trees down?) HIM: "ok, have a good day." ME:"Same to you"- a wave and i'm off. and then he follows me ALL THE WAY DOWN to the parking lot.
Got to try out the new Continental Supersport contacts that just came out a few months ago and am handily impressed with my first set of not 200 UTQG tires. Dollar for dollar, these are fantastic tires that offer 95% of the dry weather performance of Z2's or RS-3's. I had them installed by John Walsh Automotive in Franklin, NC on Depot St. who did a great job with no rim damage- friendly guy and great staff- I give them high recommendation.
I ended up running with a group of Focus RS' who had a meet at the dragon on Saturday. Little more leisurely pace than I typically enjoy, but good fun all these same.
