Ron is just back from a trip on his boat where he is Captain and has the power of life, death and marriage over everyone on board. This was not a more important

I'm back in the High Castle with the Big Deck so I can attend to this thread.

We thought you had been abducted by trolls or something....
Or even worse... by Raul!

Dear Ron,
Define the Universe. Give three examples.
Define the Universe. Give three examples.
Two more examples: The two adjacent multiverses where the Fine Structure Constant is different by a fraction of a percent. One plus and one minus.
And yes, I've had this on a test before too.
Ron, I find this definition of The Universe arbitrarily limited. It's like saying that a tree falling in the forest makes no noise if no one can hear it. The "stuff" inside a black hole is not within any outside observer's light cone yet it is considered to exist when considering the total mass of the known universe.
The rest of that stuff about fine structure constants and multiverses is just your smarty-pants way of avoiding the issue: The only way to experience an alternative universe is through extensive use of mind altering substances including, but not limited to, beer.

Given enough time, as in all-of-time, even the largest black hole will evaporate due to Hawking radiation. So, this material is still retained in our universe. As to the singularity itself, deponent sayeth not. And, anyway, I'd say the pre-evaporation black hole clearly _is_ within the observer's light cone. Just see what happens of you get too close!
And, given the definition of "universe" being able to experience more than one directly clearly involves technologies not yet available to me.
The conservation of information is a myth. Just ask my wife.
A black hole is not itself observable. Only its effects are. As one approaches the speed of light on helbender, one can observe....well...lets just say you should drive more and read less.
And you should clearly expand your menu of mind altering substances or watch the complete final season DVD of Three's Company.

All this is a bit beside the point anyway. Review your ideas about the light cone. Observability is not a requirement even though the effects and the event horizon of a black hole itself certainly are observable. Remember, _you_ are only observable by the way you bounce photons and push electrons. We can certainly start a new thread about your nonexistence.
I did try combining my driving and reading but the effects were suboptimal. I have returned to consuming only audio entertainment while driving.
I will take your suggestion about new nootropic substances under advisement. I surely will. However, I do not exist in the same universe as "Three's Company" DVDs. Especially the ones with the "extras."
