I will be coming from Ft Myers FL, google shows me taking 75 then going around Atlanta on 285 and taking 85/985/23/365/ to Franklin. How can one road have so many different numbers.

stay off 285 around Atlanta during peak traffic. It’s a parking lot. A couple of weeks ago on 285 1.5 hours to go 40 miles.

Hey Bob, if you want to totally avoid Atlanta (like I do), take 75N to Macon and go backroads. It’s a MUCH nicer drive, and it only adds a little more time, but it’ll take you right to Franklin. Here’s a map starting in N FL to give you the idea. https://maps.app.goo.gl/hotcgsKJUQK6SzmP8?g_st=i

For the drivers coming up from Florida

Alternative one

One option takes Warwoman road West from Clayton over to 28 North

Option two Involves running the whole Moonshiner from Walhalla. I can't get the map to work on this one.
Either option adds about an hour from what you originally posted but starts the 'fun' sooner

Thanks, Dave. That’s the beauty of this area, once 441 merges with 23, there are so many possible ways to go off the beaten path to end up at Fontana, you never have to take the same route!

We are meeting up on GA 400 and headed over Blood Mountain. Then take 64 to Franklin. It’s the middle route between GA515 on the west alternate and US441 on the east alternate. Thanks for all the different alternate. Super Dave done both those routes which are great until you get into The Highlands. See all of you very soon.
