Do it on Thursday.

I saw some dubious driving by the time we got there Friday around noon. I realize there are people for whom the meaning of a solid double yellow line will never be clear, but it bears mentioning early and often.

Ageed! Most of the S2Kers I saw were able to keep it between the mustard and the mayonaise... Hell I even managed to keep it mostly in my lane when I forced myself into a spin on hellbender on my last run Sunday! I don't know if Raul saw me, but I was trailing him by a few yards when I hit a hit a new patch of pavement heading into an open right hand turn. I knew I would lock it up and possibly slide into the rock face if I tried to slow down enough on the new pavement.. After giving a quick glance ahead of the turn and in the rear view to check for cars/bikes, I threw it into a 180 and managed to stop myself in time. There was a chance that I could have made the turn, but I didn't want to find out the hard way! After inspecting the skid marks It was clear that my back end only slightly dipped over the yellow! I tucked my tail between my legs and continued on.

The induced spin isn't a skill that you use very often, but it sure is useful when you need it!

As a local the speech was unnecessary (for me) but I still attended mainly for the roll out but I also just wanted to hear it.

I really insist to myself and my friends that also go to NEVER cross the double yellow and always acknowledge those who do pull over for you.

But in my opinion I think a mandatory drivers meet for people who are new to the dragon is a good idea.

Logistically it may be difficult to ensure it happens. (Perhaps some kind of mention on the itinerary for first timers?)

Personally I've only attended one or two driver's meetings/rollouts. Given the distance I travel and the alcohol I tend to consume the night before, it's usually to everyone's benefit that I'm not on the Dragon that early in the day.

To register, you must sign a form swearing to not follow the car in front too closely, drive like a good citizen in and around Fontana Village, and NEVER EVER CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOWS.

Only then you may attend.

Good ideas... I like the Friday night thing...although the alcohol may help folks forget the advice.

WillieGee, I like the idea of a "form." Something insanely simple like:

2 RULES

1) NEVER, EVER CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW
2) Be a considerate driver in and around Fontana (No burnouts, donuts, loud music, speeding, etc)

super simple. I'd have a "thou shall not tailgate driving spiritedly" clause as well.

I only tailgate those I know.

Reminds me of when I actually tapped another S2000 (SkipFerrari) and Tom called me "tailgate" instead of airgate for the entire weekend.
