careful, you can easily bump someone off the road. I don't like it or allow it on my drives.

We need to come up with something so only registered attendees of DBR get the special discount on lodging at Fontana. It's not fair for folks to simply show up and take advantage of the pricing/facilities...if they didn't actually register to attend the event.

I like the idea of the Friday night drivers meeting--more people are there.

How about you send a registration list to Fontana via fax and only those people get the discount. So you must register before booking hotel and if you procrastinate then thats your problem.

Why penalize those that can't commit until the last minute
to going? I thought the idea was to encourage as many members
of the S2000 community to attend as possible?

What the hotel charges does not effect the cost of running the
event from the S2KI perspective, just means a few less dollars
in the pockets of the resort. If this is wrong Raul, please correct me.

Just playing devils advocate here...I'd hate to have someone
feel that they are unwelcome or are considered not worthy of
a discount because of circumstances that forced them to wait
until the last minute to decide to come.

Yeah, but Mark, Raul can still contact Fontana to let them know about the late registration. The idea is that we don't want people that don't actually participate in the meet to represent us.

I like the idea for a form to be signed at registration.

Gonna sound like a brown-noser here...but I still see merit in the Driver's Meeting. If for no other reason than the very PM [see below] I just received, sent from another person on The Dragon last weekend...

"... I wasn't sure if I should bring this up or not or who to say it to but you seem to be one of the people 'in charge'. I wasn't part of the official WTD event this past weekend but I was up there for a bit to visit some friends in Fontana and what not. I was reading the post about the good rep you guys have which is awesome but a group of s2ks did get a 'bad look/comments' when they came by the gas station WOT doing 60+mph up the mountain w/ people attempting to walk across the road and what not. There was prob 10-15 cars in the group, I don't know anyone or their cars so I couldn't say who it was but they may need to be reminded to take it easy past the populated areas..."

Seriously...who would be SO FOOLISH a driver/s??? And really, why? Such actions beg for the formality of a meeting where 'personalized' reminders might tend to foster better behavior.

Then again...who knows, this same 'group of s2ks' may well have attended Raul's Driver's Meeting Saturday morning only to do whatever the hell they wished anyway...

If the Driver's Meeting were to go the way of the dinosaur...I would suggest at least a single-page 'stuffer' within the registration packet that provides a list of considerations (similar to our oft-started "Reminders for New Drivers" threads posted on the Dragon Events forum just before upcoming events).
