What a fabulous weekend!!!

As always, you people are what makes this SO great !

Bryan...many thanks for slaving over the smoker and making such great pork, ribs and wings .

Yes, the weather was perfect, and had some decent runs without being held up too much.

However, having such wonderful people to share it with, is what makes it so memorable.

I can't wait until the next McDragon!!!

I have the 22.5 inch Weber Smokey Mountain cooker: link

There's an 18.5 inch model of the same smoker: link

Ron and I want to add our thanks to everyone who came out for such a great weekend! We couldn't have asked for better weather, roads, food or fun! You guys are the best.

Recap: (So I can re-live the weekend instead of working)

Friday:
Breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Charlotte; caravan up with Ron, JAHumphrey and radred. Arrived Fontana 1:30ish. Quick check-in and then headed to the Gap for DRAGON BURGER. <yum>

Couple of (mostly) clear runs; no LEO except for one Deputy Sherriff in (former)gravel parking lot who had escorted a semi. Luckily, we missed this truck's passage and saw no others all weekend. No LEOs in sight all weekend either.

Back to the cabins for cocktails, chatter and dinner at the Lodge restaurant. Found out Huskergirl wasn't going to be able to make it ; our only sad note. Came back to our cabin after dinner to find a couple of Wake Forrest fraternities having a big party at the firepit in our front yard. Quite entertaining, if loud. We tried not to disturb them with our noise. Crashed pretty early, except for Bryan who stayed up to get his BBQ fire started around midnight.

Saturday:
After some AMAZING waffles (thanks, dead-bird!) and a few "Big Bang Theory" episodes (thanks, Steve!), we were off to the Dragon again. Not too crowded this weekend, in spite of the perfect weather. Nice!

Through the Dragon once and then most of us went on the "Hill Tops and Hollers" drive; what a great set of roads! This took most of the afternoon; went back through the Dragon and then to Fontana to await the BBQ feast.

SC_Highlander and crew show up with OUTSTANDING pulled pork, chicken wings and ribs. Everyone else contributed side dishes, desserts, etc. Dead-bird boiled a giant pot of boiled peanuts as well. Needless to say, we ate ourselves into a food stupor.

Headed down to the fire pit before the frat boys could return (drove them off to the other bonfire area) and spent the rest of the evening telling lies and....well, I'll let some of the guys elaborate here.

Sunday:
Woke up to find the frat boyz stole my new Dragon banner we had hung on the front porch. Bastards! Breakfast at the Gap, one more Dragon run and then back to pack up. Lunch at the Jarrett House in Dillsboro was a fine tradition and a great way to wrap up the weekend. <Sigh>

I'm with Garrett; can we go back this weekend?
