I have mine too but did not even both getting it out of the box after I read the instructions. First it is not bluetooth, it is WIFI which I thought means that you have to have a wireless network available to make it work but I guess I was wrong. Can you confirm that you do not have to be connected to a wirless network. I thought we have to AutoX at Starbucks parking lot for the remote to work!!!!

Well, I used it quite successfully in the mountains at Back of the Dragon in Marion, VA without a wireless network so I think you might just be safe. You know of course that it would be quite easy to make the receiver a wireless router and the remote control a transmitter, right? (But, I'm reasonably sure it's Bluetooth).

Go to the website (gopro.com/update if I remember correctly). You'll be prompted to download the software. Download and install the software. Once you do that, follow the directions on the screen closely. Read them two or three times before you attempt the upgrade.
If you're in Abington, check out the Back Of The Dragon drive coming up on July 13.

from the website

"The Wi-Fi Remote does not require a Wi-Fi network as it creates its own Wi-Fi network. Supports iOS 4 and Android OS 2.2 and newer devices. Specifications are subject to change without notice."

So you can control your own camera but not 50 and it is not bluetooth because if it was you could watch vids on your phone and is not happening yet but it will in a future upadate

You can control a number of cameras (according to the manual) and you can connect your iPad...(which is what I'm working on now). All of this is from the manual. YMMV!
