Default Ideas for DBR 2008

I was just thinking about having a dyno set up at the DBR (DragonBall Run) event in September. What do you think??

I'm thinking we may be better to have it for WTD since that seems to be the larger gathering...not sure.

How about having another Poker Run?? Another Beer Swap??

Any ideas?

Dyno probably would make more sense next spring.

Poker run was fun. I'd do it again any time.
Beer swap was crazy fun and a great way to actually get to know a lot of fellow members.

How about a put-put tournament? Is that little goofy golf course they have lighted for night play?

And one year we will have to have a concours d'elegance. Something for the wash and wax crowd. Not everybody worries that much about how their cars look but we have enough anal folks that it might be fun. Probably drum up some business for our beloved detail and pdr sponsors, too.

Just random thoughts.

Poker run was amazing fun, same for the Beer Swap!! I would definitely think that the dyno would be better suited for a larger group though.

Of course, Im generously biased to this answer, but I do think that this would be a GREAT idea. We could make it coincide with dinner one night and make it a more "high class" type of thing somehow. Award prizes for the cleanest of each year S2000 and other items. I would be MORE than willing to help orchestrate something to this effect as well. Just let me know!! Great idea!

A car show of sorts is a good idea.

How about a professional videographer? We could contract them to set up points along the Dragon to shoot film of us...combine and edit into DVDs.

As one of the organizers for the beer swap, I think we have some areas that we can improve upon for DBR. Better identifying where the various beer came from, as well as increasing the radius of "beer swap alcohol accessible" area would be nice. Too often we were either confined to the box and end up leaving the beer behind to see the cars, talk to people, register, etc...
These are some of the things I'd like to help improve for DBR'08.

Car show isn't a bad idea, but um....do you really need to dedicate an actual "show"? The infield area on Friday looked like a car show (without designating it as such). Just line up the cars a bit better and you'd be set.

Just my $.02.

Would love to see the beer swap happen again, and it sounds like the poker run was a good time, but I wouldn't know as I scheduled my detailing poorly and had a conflict. I agree on the beer swap improvements - I actually had made a list with a lot of that info, and then forgot to print & pack on my rush out the door Thursday morning. DOH!

I like the idea of a Dyno, but I think the cost of it will require being offered to the larger group (WTD). Dynapack would be

Someone had mentioned white water rafting a few months ago - I still think that may be a good idea, but I'm unsure how the timing of good river level will sync with our Dragon trips.

Also overheard Willie Gee talking about fishing- could also be good, not sure if it's something we could make an organized thing of though.

I'd nix the Dyno, I wouldn't drive all the way to the dragon to sit in a garage and look at numbers all day. The beer swap / car show was perfect from an outsider's perspective. It seemed to go perfectly...

If I go fishing, I'll invite a few friends along but having a group S2K fishing trip sounds like a nightmare in the making...

Many people missed out on the bonfire on Saturday. There should be a more organized get together after the dinner. Meet at the Bonfire for Smores and Beer. That kind of thing.

The Pasta dinner worked out great without me. Derf's wife threw me out of the kitchen many times (i didn't mind) but that's something that needs to continue. If I get a cabin I'll host it myself.

That sounds like a grand idea. Between that and the Poker Run we should really raise money for a worthy cause. I mean we totally could, and it would feel good to do.

Worthy Charities?

(Besides the Willie Gee Beer fund)
