As a competitor in Auto-X, believe me I know winning and losing. But a judged car show at the Dragon, meh... it's a little distracting from the fun to be had. All of the sudden a gathering becomes a competition. Might change what is otherwise a very friendly vibe.

Can we field a big enough group and/or interet for a car show? Also, when would we do this? Afternoons would be set up with different group drives, the poker run, and of course, Dragon runs.
The car show would be best suited during the beer exchange event in the ball field. You could just have people put their votes in a box, and announce the winners during the reception dinner.
Just have people that are entering the show have their cars marked with their usernames.
Good point....I think that would be the only time we really would have for this (and would have lots of traffic since registration is during this time as well). My one concern...

I'm fine with doing this at night if that's ok with everyone as well. We would need to have those that would like to participate register ahead of time and set up a designated area for those cars (which would be seperate from the cars that are there just to attend).
I'm helping with the organization of the beer swap so I can help with this as well.
I would just have the field of cars and by just being there you would be entered. People are going to walk around and determine which is their favorite cars anyway. If anything, there should be a nominal fee for voting, say $1. So that way there won't be spamming of entries and we could raise money for a worthy cause.
Everyone that wants to participate in the car show donate $5... That'll cover cost for trophies (if there needs to be any), and anything above those costs can also go towards a charity....
Beer swap is under review.. I'm going to be working with the other two organizers to look at the pros/cons and feedback that was provided to better improve this for DBR '08.
