I think all it would take is to troll this forum. Maybe we should be more discrete about our drives.

There are usually NC troopers on 28 south of Fontana - its not like we're the only ones that go up there. Long, straight down hills are a great way to get someone speeding. Its not uncommon to see them on 129 between Deal's Gap and Robbinsville during weekend days either.

NC LEOs I spoke with (that were staying at Fontana) mentioned a bike rally in Statesville and that they were in the area to catch for that, and bikes at that. All things considered, I think we were pretty fortunate - NC Troopers handed out a lot of warnings but not tickets afaik.

I had a feeling they were waiting for us on that night run... Good thing we all kept that run safe so we could all enjoy the night sky at the overlook

I definitely did have the feeling they were watching our forums though. Having all of our group drives unposted, and only kept on the itinerary was my idea too. It's a funny battle, their goal is to keep us safe and on the road. Our goal is to have fun on the roads in every way possible. I know I am thankful for everyone here that it was mostly warnings handed out. Funny thing too, they may be reading this thread as well.

If it continues like this, we all just have to be aware they are around, just as they are aware we are around. I dont think there is too much we can do other than keeping our itinerary more secret

I say lets post the Newbie Run time when the FCPD run actually is....

They won't waste time on the Newbie Run!

Stick with my drives.... I go a nice sedate pace and don't have any issues with LEO's!

Only problem with my drives:
1. getting served your lunch
2. falling asleep due to the pace

But on a positive note, you'll get better gas mileage!

Yep. We were behind a couple bikes taking their time, so when 28 opened up to 4-lane divided, we all took off in the left lane and 4 cops on BMWs got us.
