Default My decision to end DragonBall Run and Wake the Dragon

Folks...friends...S2000 enthusiasts and Dragon lovers,

It's been nearly 12 years of planning Dragon events and celebrating Spring and Fall with annual Honda S2000 events...but I've made a decision to no longer host/organize these events. The event names of "DragonBall Run" (DBR) and "Wake the Dragon" (WTD) are now retired and I respectfully ask that they not be used for any future events.

With this announcement, I'd like to tell you that DBRXII (DragonBall Run 12) is cancelled and will not be held in September. In addition to this, WTDXI (Wake the Dragon 11) which was to be held in April 2013 is also cancelled.

This decision sets the stage for a new event to take shape...for someone else to come along and create their own Dragon event.

I hope that you'll understand and respect my decision to end these events. I could conjure up excuses as to why...but in the end, I want you to know that I appreciate everyone that has attended an event and especially those who have helped along the way.

Best always,

-Raul (airgate)

Absolutely respect your decision Raul. Thanks for everything you and the other organizers have done over the years to make these events amazing.

As much as it pains me to read this, I can only imagine the amount of effort it takes to plan and organize these types of events. I have only attended 2 WTD events but I greatly appreciate all of your efforts, Raul, and anyone else that has been instrumental in these meets.

Raul, thanks for all that you've done for the S2k community. Though I've only been to two Dragon events, it was one of the best outcomes of owning a S2000.

Yes, it's true, there won't be Wake the Dragon and there won't be Dragon Ball Run...however, there will be Back to the Dragon in April (and yes, it's going to be at Fontana next year) and there will be the equivalent of Dragon Ball Run this September. We had a good last Wake The Dragon this April, we'll have a good Back to the Dragon next April. There are a limited number of rooms available at Fontana, so if you plan on staying there, reserve your room now. The rate is the normal Dragon rate. I'll put up the registration site shortly.
