Default RtD2020 Cherohala Skyway Drive - Saturday after Group Rollout

After the monster roll out and group photo shots, I will be leading a drive for lunch @ Tellico Grains and then onto the Cherohala Skyway. Plans are to gas up at a gas station in town after we leave the Dragon. From there, head out to Tellico Plains to eat lunch and relax, then go hit the Skyway. Tellico Grains is great.

Tellico Grains website (yum!)

The pace is typically "spirited" when traffic and conditions permit.

We will make at least two stops at the scenic overlooks at the beginning of the skyway and again towards the end. Also, a follow up fuel stop will be made at the Gas station at the end of the skyway and route 129. This is a great location as there's plenty of parking to regroup, they do have a neat store with skyway/dragon decals and other assorted goodies. Then we will head back up 129 where you will have the option of hitting the Dragon again, or taking Hellbender back to Fontana.

total drive time is approx. 4 hours including lunch.

This map ends at the gas station just before Cherohala if you're looking for a place to top up before hitting it. I can't figure how to just embed the map on my post.

see you on the road!

There are two gas stations when we turn off of Rt 411 onto SR 360. We stop there every trip to Tellico Grains. You're going from the Robbinsville end and not the Tellico Plains end. There is an Exxon station at the start of the Cherohala so if you miss the first two, you get another chance after lunch.
