Default those of u who have driven the dragon in the rain

for those of u who have driven the tail of the dragon in the rain, I'm planning to go there next weekend and have never been before. Its forecast to rain everyday ~30-50% chance. I'm not overly aggressive but I'm worried with the snap oversteer of our cars that its probably too dangerous for me to go. I have MY07, so it has traction control. I also think it may not be worth it if I can't have my top down. Any thoughts, advice for me?

I've driven the Dragon in the rain and its a great drive. Obviously you have to be slower and more careful with the throttle, but if you have good tires its a great run, especially since most people won't drive it in the rain - its one of the few times I've done the whole stretch without any other traffic to hold me up.

The biggest thing to remember about the Dragon is that its a public road. Wet or dry, driving like a fool will only get you in trouble. If you can't manage to stay in your lane, slow down. If you can't keep the car controlled, slow down. There are no timed runs on it, so if faster traffic comes up, let it by, and don't try and hang with anyone faster than you. Have fun on your terms. Every time I've been to the Dragon, I've seen at least one car wreck and two motorcycles wreck. Its always been people over-reaching so far.

good pts..my tires should be good enough, 6k miles on it. i tend to lean towards being cautious anyways. as long as its not a predicted down pour, i think i'll go.

btw, nice on the robotech pic. loved that cartoon as a kid!

You should be fine as long as the temps are 50 or above. Newish RE050s, and rain and 38 degrees was NOT a fun Dragon ride, last time I did it. That's why I'm running RE01Rs now - better in both wet and cold.

But as Saki said - drive within your limits, stay on your side of the road, and you'll have a blast - rain or shine - long as it is warm enough

I drove The Dragon in the rain a couple of times and hated it. It took forever (like 45 minute to 1 hour) just to go one way, and I was dam* near motion sick when I was done. Not the best time I ever had.
