Default Tire Pressure Adjustments

Do any of you guys adjust your tire pressures when you are at the Dragon event ?. For highway driving I tend to run pressures 2-3 psi above recommended - approx. 35 psi give or take, but I've heard of guys dropping the pressures when running on the Dragon. I run an air compressor/tire sealant kit in my car similar to the one in the CR so it it's easy to adjust pressures if needed. Just curious if it is worth doing or just leave it at one setting the entire trip. Thanks for reading.

I run them at 32 psi but make sure that you get the tire temps up before you start driving it like you stole it!!!

I run 34 but only because my Hankooks have thin side walls.

The key is to warm up the tires before pushing the car. I still remember about 3 years ago, someone near the front of the pack turned off of Fontana Village and wrapped his S around the first tree on the first turn. He was ok but the weekend was ruined, not to mention... towing the car out of an isolated place like the dragon...

From my experience, the tires and brakes usually heat up so the PSI will be going up so I would also put all four at 32 cold.

Thanks for the replies, so it sounds like most leave the pressures at one setting. I wasn't concerned about outright numbers but if it is worth adjusting the pressures up and down. The advice about getting heat into the tires is a good one, particularly at that time of the year when it can still be cool out. Good to know, thanks

I used to set to 32 cold, and then watch the wear on the shoulders of the tire to see if I should add or remove pressure. Wear should just touch the tips of the triangles. More air if you're going past them, less air if you aren't reaching them. If you don't push the car hard though, I wouldn't rely on this quite as much, or just aim to be short of the triangle some.

Lately I've been lazy and just setting 32 when I leave home and then forgetting about it and just having fun for the weekend. This year I may take it more seriously though.

Cool, that is great info, I remember from some of my track days using chalk on the sidewalks to achieve the same effect. I'll take a peek and see if I have those little guys on my tires. Much appreciated
