Sorry I didn't mean to take us in a political direction, or sound like I was complaining. Actually I agree with the people on this thread leaning toward this being a good thing more so than a bad one. Although I am a first timer so my opinion isn't worth much, from watching the videos I've seen from links on here it definitely looks like a place you wouldn't want to mess around with. Way to easy to hurt yourself or someone else.
I for one plan on taking it real easy, may even be called a "leaf watcher" before I'm done. I'd rather that than to be on a short list for an award like the guy above. Or at least I hope it would be a short list?
I'd advise that you don't get reckless at all.... I've seen on numerous occassions various members calling someone out because they were being reckless.... It takes one person to ruin it for everyone...
Not saying that it's going to be you (it could be me ), just a friendly fyi..
Oh..and like I've posted in probably every Dragon thread...

If Tennessee said 5 MPH over the speed limit is considered reckless driving, and you were convicted in Tennessee of doing 6 MPH over - guess what. You now have a reckless driving on your Illinois record.....sucks doesn't it?
Depending on how the cop writes it, that may or may not be true. If the cop wrote it for 6 MPH over, it'd transfer as a 6 over speeding ticket in your state. If he wrote it as a reckless driving, then yes it's reckless no matter where you live, which is somewhat stupid.
And it usually takes 2-3 months, based on prior experience (I never got a ticket in the state I lived in... )

yikes!
<---first timer as well... im going to stay behind one of you... and take it nice and slow...
Just a word of caution. I know this probably isn't what you mean to say but thought I would throw it out there anyway...
I have seen more people wreck on the dragon from trying to stay behind more experienced drivers figuring if the person in front of them with the same car can do it, so can they. Remember this isn't a race and no one will rag on you for not being able to keep up. Everyone's main concern is for safety above all else. We want to leave with the same number of people we came with and the same number of cars. It would be nice if we could make that a reality this time around. Accidents happen, especially on this road, but if you keep your wits about you and drive within your limits and make safety your first priority we will make this a successful trip in every way...

but on roads down here, they curve and bank and turn etc, but no ravines or drop offs... lol...
Drop offs are the norm at the dragon. The pics posted above actually don't do that situation any justice. Pay attention to the angle of the trees and the person in the first photo and you can see how sloped that bank really is...
