Dave.
Can you tell me where on the Cherohala you want me to be at? (and someone needs to refresh my memory on the fastest way there)

There are Two ways to get to the Cherohola from Deals Gap. One I am not so sure of, and will be predriving it on Thursday before the event to check it out. That route turns of Rt129 onto a paved county road, that goes east around Santeelah Lake and intersects Hwy 143 (the Cherohola). The other way is to continue down 129 till it intersects highway 143, before you get to Robbinsville from Deals Gap. the stop I have earmarked is the one near the state line. Its just above the 5,000 ft. elevation and has a spectacular view as I remember from two years ago. I will have maps printed for everyone, and since the Dragon will likely be closed, I will print extras for people to use that want to do some exploring of their own. and thanks again for your help.

At least you can make fun of him whilst "working"

I get to stand around by myself perhaps I'll have my wife and kids hang out with me, as long as that's okay.

Edit: My wife & kids are all registered as well, just in case anyone was curious.

I may be able to have Blue barchetta or Huskergirl help you with your stop. I'll be honest, I really don't like putting people out along the road by themselves. So if you don't have someone with you, I'll see if one of them can help, at each stop. I may be able to help with stop 4 as it is close to registration anyway. I will have a grab bag of goodies for each volunteer. I'll be sure to throw enough in the bag for whoever may be with you. And if any of you volunteers are reading this, let me know if you are uncomfortable with either your stop, who you are or are not with, and if there will be someone with you. Like I said, it makes me uncomfortable to have people out on the road by themselves.

If you need someone else to "back-up" a person by themselves, I'm available to help out. After I saw all the volunteers, I didn't say anything because I knew you had more than 5. But I agree, it's safer to have two manning each stop than someone solo out there. I'm set to arrive early Friday morning, so just let me know if you need another volunteer.

I have added you to the list of volunteers, and thank you for your help. You will still be able to participate in the event.
