Sheila, I'm sorry to hear about your run in with the law. I met the trooper coming up the dragon and the new radar detector worked great! I was doing 30 by the time we met! Escort 9500ci is the only way to go!!!!
Can we say "got home safely" if John's Mini was lost in the process? On a serious note my brother is okay. Pretty bummed, but okay. He has a scratch or two from the airbags, but other than that he is no worse for wear. On the way home he just kept talking about how he couldn't believe it happened this morning of all days. Any other day this weekend he probably would have deserved it, but not today. We left Fontana with out cars packed to go home. We were doing a leisurely 40mph or so down hellbender trying not to throw the bags and stuff around too much. He was following right behind me... and then he wasn't. I turned around figuring he had run out of gas or something. I turned the corner and he was standing there with a totaled Mini. Unbelievable. The best we could figure, he hit some gravel in the hill/turn and lost control. He is very lucky that the car hit a tree, because he would have ended up in the lake 50 feet below had it not been there. The ticket is only $25, which is nothing compared to the shame of it all.... and his new insurance rates. I'm just glad he is okay. Thanks to everyone who bothered to stop and check on him. Unfortunately we were about 200 miles away before we realized that we forgot to hang a piece of the Mini on the "tree of shame".Anyway, we made it home to New Orleans at around 9:15pm, which is fantastic considering the Officer Douchebag didn't let us loose until almost 2:00pm. The Evo is safe in the driveway!
Sorry to hear that Sheila, always sucks to get a ticket. One guy in the Atlanta group got a ticket Saturday afternoon and decided to head back home early. Maybe I should think about investing in a radar dectector.

Mary and I stayed an extra day. Sunday weather was fantastic and we went over the Cherohala, had lunch in Tellico Plains at Nun N Fancy and did some back roads between there and Murphy all around Lake Hiwassee. We came home yesterday following a dandy breakfast at the Gap. The trip home was uneventful and all went according to plan for a wonderful time.
Unfortunately, when we got home, we found our good friend and cat Cinnamon Girl had died while we were gone. She was just laying on the floor next to the bed like she was sleeping. She had been battling an illness that the vets had not been able to pinpoint for about a year so we knew she was struggling but was really doing well as we left -- eating well, drinking, energetic. We had someone coming in every other day to make sure all was OK. They were there Saturday night. We figure she passed away sometime early Monday. It sure puts a damper on a good time when you have to immediately bury a pet when you come home.
Its not the first time we've lost a pet and we all know it is going to happen to them all but you are never quite ready for it especially when it happens relatively unexpectedly. I know she was just a cat but she sure was a top notch pal and companion. We will miss her.

....Not just a cat...Mark. A member of the family. Although, small, and 4 legs...they become a full time member.....Mary and I stayed an extra day.
