switzerland shouldn't be too much of a detour I think, but remember to NOT speed in that country... crazy fines... (or don't pay the fine and just never enter switzerland again...but that might be a bit overdoing it)

As long as the road conditions are oki with dry roads, I don't think it will be a problem with summertires anyway. The problems comes if an accident occurs of course, regarding the date 15th, but the chances of that should be small... It's just a couple of days away from the end of the restriction.
The questions is if the police stop foreigners just to check the tires.
I am not going with wintertires whatsoever.

On the major routes through Austria, I do not envisage ANY problems.
I was there in January this year and it put down over 1 foot of snow over night and the roads still remained open.
Again, the rules have been posted above, you are all aware of them and will have to make your own informed adult judgement on this.
I may buy a set of chains for the rear, but I would be very very surprised if I have to use them.
Honestly guys, this will not be an issue, stop stressing about it !

I found this in the web.............
Switzerland
The Swiss regulations are similar to those used in France. There is no general obligation to use winter tyres, although most motorist associations highly recommend the use of winter tyres for insurance reasons. If an accident has been caused by the use of summer tyres during the winter months this can lead to liability on the part of the driver, regardless of whether or not they have fully comprehensive insurance. Snow chains and spikes are generally optional, but their use can be enforced through road signs. Drivers using spikes are not generally allowed on motorways. Again, 50km/h and 80km/h speed limits are in place, in and out of town.

Εδώ είσαι ρε και σε ψάχνει ο Παλαιοκώστας;
Ξέχασε λέει το ταπεράκι με τα κεφτεδάκια δίπλα στο κάθισμα του συνοδηγού.
Άντε να δεις, θα χουνε χαλάσει τώρα.

I have heard about this on the news.
Something about a Greek helicopter pilot rescuing people from jail with his helicopter.
Hmmm, very strange...coincidence ?
