You're right... i encouter radars, cops and tickets but i never paid one of them...it is difficult for the belgian cops to track cars from Luxemburg. When i'm driving with belgian plates (other cars) i can speed in my area since i have some deals...but...i never speed in the NL part of Belgium...with a belgian plate...too difficult to get help instead to pay...

There are the charges :
Highway (Max speed = 120 KM/h)
Legend : DRIVING SPEED/PRICING
131-140 = 5600 Bef
141-145 = 6300 Bef
146-150 = 7000 Bef
151-155 = 7700 Bef
156-160 = 8400 Bef
161-165 = 9100 Bef
165-170 = 9800 Bef
171-175 = 10500 Bef
176-180 = 11200 Bef
181-185 = 11900 Bef
186-190 = 12600 Bef
190 and more = 13300 Bef

As you can see there is no limit after 190... Next time, push the car to its limits... it will be the same price !!!

Normally if you pass the maximum authorized speed with 50 Km/h you are directly assigned to the court and yes...probably get a punition for your driving licence. If you're assigned to the court, you will also pay the court's charges (about 4000 bef for a file).

BUT, i have a solution to your prob, so don't be affraid, it has been already tested and it works !

1 - Go ahead before getting the ticket from the cops and find a contact OUTSIDE Belgium who don't come often in Belgium (Victor, you're safe ! hehe)
2 - Write the ticket under his name with his coordinates. (Maybe you have friends or family outside the country)
3 - In the first time you just need his name and address
4 - In the second time you need a letter from that guy (i undersigned, by the present, declaring etc...) YOU CAN WRITE THE LETTER YOURSELF...i know it's a crime but speeding at 190 is more criminal (oups..i also speak for myself !!) AND THAT'S IT !!!
It's really better to send the letter with the declaration with the ticket declaration since at that time the file is not in the hands of a judge but of an employee...you will probably be assigned depending the employee just to explain your story to the judge...

If you win then you have just to pay :
-13300 Bef for extra speeding (even if drove by anonymous guy etc...you're ALWAYS the responsible of the car/insurance/damage etc...)
- 4000 Bef for the court charges

With this method, you will ALWAYS pay the ticket but NEVER lost your licence...

If you decide to write the ticket under your name and you're affraid to lost your licence : there is possibilities to make deals with the court : You can choose your period...i do not see a prob if i haven't a licence during my 2002 Holidays in the Caraibean !!!!!

Don't care, you're crying your licence...i'm crying for an insurance company since they kicked me !!!
I have money for my next S2K, i have illusions to be with all of you, but nothing more since i have no insurance !

P.S. : if you don't find someone to take the head of the ticket, write a message here... it's probably better to give some bucks to someone who will NEVER come here instead loosing your license !

Thanks mad, vlopes !

1) I did not know I was flashed until I got the ticket ... so I could not take any measures beforehand.

2) I'm not going to lie about this ... that's not my nature.

3) If I need to go to court I will tell them it is the first time in six years and that I need my car for my job (which is really the case). I hope to get a deal done ... For now I did not yet receive a feedback from the court - will let you know...

At the court, be sure that you will loose in advance... do you know how many people are trying to tell : 'it's the first time, i will never do it again...'. The court to reply : 'Ho ok but 120 KmH speed limit is already installed since more than 6 years man...just to remind you to NOT do it again you will pay the amount...

About your job :
you only have a chance if you're independent or be on a company with an high-level job. You can always argument that for running correctly the company, you need to have a car...without car, it's egal to without you en then it will cause damages to the company...

I already passes days at the driving court... Be sure : if you want to pass, you need to be original but it works !!!

Good luck and keep us informed !

Hi,

if You think that fines in Germany are too high, then please NEVER drive too fast in Switzerland ( general speed limit of 120 km/h). I was flashed on my way back from a german/swiss-owner's club meeting with 18 km/h too much. I mean 18 is not that much, just accelerated a little while overtaking a truck.

I paid 200 sfr, i.e. 265 DM, i.e. 125 US$ for that.

OK, it was including a photo but still not a bargain...

Greetings from Germany

Pete

Guys,

Come to Portugal.

I have sped (past participle of speed?) every single day of my adult life, and never, ever got a ticket in this country.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Spain, France, UK, USA and OZ.

Hi Le Car,

perhaps the swiss guys do not flash at night as much as on daytime. But they have endless fixed mounted flashers and there you got your ticket 24 hours a day. And I do know that.

Greetings from Germany

Hello everyone; sorry to hear that Bel!!!

I think we europeans (except perhaps the swiss - but then again, they didn't join) are lucky compared to the poor Americans that have cops everywhere, even in planes! While living in the US, I would lose my license on a regular basis, but ever since I 've moved back to France, not a one in five years (and I do carcassonne-Paris or 900 and some km in six hours at least once a month) .

In France, the highway police were notoriously underequipped. It IS starting to change.
Are there radar detectors that will detect the French "Mesta", the "Eurolaser", as well as the Swiss, Belgian and UK "speed - boxes"?

Happy ticket-less motoring!

Having a radar detector is forbidden in Belgium (just like speeding ).

After 1 week still no news about my ticket ...
