Speeding :(
FYI :
In Switzerland, the cops have all kind of radars :
Fixed : 24/day-365/year : particulary in Geneva and Lucerne (swiss center part)
Mobile : placed for one day (daytime)
Handy : from a "police" standard moving or parked car or from a bridge above the highway
But, as you know, Switzerland is a small country so many of drivers know where are the "dangerous" highway places.
As you perhaps also know, Switzerland is the "Bank" country : that's the reason of expensive tickets
Note : in Switzerland the licence is removed if you are upon 145km/h on highway (the limit is 120
)

Oh, and radar detectors are strictly forbidden in France. If they find one in your car, even not in use, you'll pay a hefty fine (3000Frs I think - merde it's Euros now, I'm gonna have to adapt when I come back, now that I'm english)
It is not forbidden to have a radar detector in belgium..be sure...
It's only forbidden to use it !!!
Then if they are catching you, unplug the detector and that's it !!!
It is like to have a gsm on the passenger seat !!!
A radar detector can be used on a closed road then you can transport it in your car for sure...
Anyone interested by a groupbuy ? hehe

Hey Mad !
R u sure about that ? You are allowed to have them but not use them ? ? So how will they ever be able to prove that you used it in the first place ?
Talked to my accountant yesterday : he had a ticket on the same highway, same place as me, but he only made it to 189 km/h ! (Audi 100 2.3). It seems that it will definitely take weeks before I will receive a 'result' of the fine.
I have become paranoid now and see radars everywhere ... result : my fuel consumption has dropt to a laughing 8.6 litres per 100 km. I think I need a bicycle .....

Wow,
Does this ever bring back memories... I was busted (flashed) doing 161 km/hr just before last exit before French border. Going home (Dour) from Mons, late afternoon (gendarm catching the French going home). Some seven years ago while still in military. I was lucky...I had been racing an Opel Vectra to about 210 just a couple kilometers before the exit...wonder if they would have tried to impound vehicle....

Bonjour from *rainy* south of France
!!
Yes, LeCar, the relatively new Autoroute from Paris to Clermont-Ferrand IS a dream come true.
I feel bad for what has to be most US S2K owners: cops are everywhere and other road users just aren't used to being overtaken at 220+KM/H.
I made a mad dash from University of Miami to Minneapolis, Minnesota when I was a student, in a ragtop GT 5.0 ; Doing the 2020 mile trip in under 29 hours meant taking HUGE risks everytime I passed another car: In the US, people drive in a very RELAXED manner (except for you stookers out there!) and are just not used to fast driving. That combo makes for DANGER.
Drive in Paris like a madman and you're perfectly safe, because people not only EXPECT you to, but also because they DO it too (esp. the cops!!).
To get back to the topic of detectors, I heard too that you can have one in the car but NOT use it. I have also read somewhere that in France, you go straight to court for using one and that the car is impounded! What we EuroBeans need to do is gather as much technical and legal info: 1) can a single detector work throughout western Europe and 2) what exactly are the laws on this matter.
LeCar: I dig your Renault 5/Le Car! How do you get it to show like that? Maybe I could get a Renault 11 "Alliance", preferably a ragtop !!
Bye for now, Benjamin. "I WILL have my S2k someday!!!!!"

Well, if you search hard enough, you can find some American versions of the 80's Renault cars in France, but the "Le Car" is certainly one of the rarest.
I have to admit that you'd need a certain dose of humor (auto-d

Bel-S2k : Yes, i'm sure...if the anti-radar is not plugged in the car then you're safe...
Please don't invert the things :
They need to proove that you are using the anti-radar instead :
You need to proove your innocence !
Check it with your lawyer...
About your current speed and tricycle ideas...check this...it's maybe what you need in replacment right now ???
