After researching all the suggestions:
Audio Excellence--
pros: great option, positive reviews from forum members, authorized DEI installer
cons: can't blame 'em, but no chance of remote start hook-up, 75 minutes away
~$700 w/o remote start module
Best Buy--
pros: authorized DEI installer, honest about no experience w/s2000s, small chance of remote start hook-up on the DL, local
cons: honest about no experience w/s2000s
~$670
2big4aS2000--
pros: forum member, up front about pricing, what adds costs (and what doesn't), has plenty of s2000 experience (ultimately the deciding factor)
cons: +120 minutes away, limited schedule

will report back on final price, results, and as many pictures as necessary/requested.
