So let me make sure I get this right...Tampa members/CO's planned a "FL Supermeet" over a year ago without any planning, coordination or input from any other CO's or members and you wonder why there are so many non concurs? I mean, I hate to keep jacking this point but it seems pretty cut and dry to me.
:ShakingMyHead:
WRONG - Again!
Your entire diatribe was done by Barry when he started as CO, aka over a year ago.
Dude – you know I luv ya man but it would help if you would pay attention every so often! Perhaps you could work will ALL the CO’s make the next “Florida Super Meet” work!

Rob, take my comments with no malice. Just playing devils advocate here. I truly appreciate the hard work that goes into planning ANY event which I am invited to, whether I agree with its methods of conception or not. I've been in the mod game on TR for years, so I know how it goes.
My question is WHY? Why no coordination? Why no discussion? Why no involvement with the other CO's? No doubt you and other took on the initiative to do something that benefits us all, but I just cant seem to understand why this forum, as active as it is, had no prior planning before this was all done. IMO, it should have started in the CO forum with the ideas from there coming into the main FL forum for a vote. That gives everyone the chance to vote and make a contribution. Of course the other CO's are going to take offense when the Tampa CO's make an event and call it the FL "Supermeet"...I would too. And they have every right.
I definitely appreciate the openess of this discussion (this was definitely needed), but the methods used to create this SuperMeet baffles me.
Its all good my man..... I am no longer hindered by emotion in all this. All of this is basically a catharsis of everything in my head surrounding a deep-rooted cancer that has been eating away at the camaraderie of the FL community for a long time now.
If a collection of CO's could have (or waned to try to) produce anything state-wide it would have happened several times by now.
3 years ago I tried to get all the CO’s on the same page regarding an iron clad policy on local vendors in the state and to start a banner campaign for them……I could not even get them all to even respond to me. The simple fact is we are separated by more than just miles. People have different levels of expectations and willingness to produce…that’s human nature.
2 years ago we, a group of people, wanted to do something bigger than boba drinks on a Thursday night. We asked ourselves: what can we do? Nobody else was doing or planning anything so we decide to act. The meet was a great success. A year later we asked ourselves: are we going to do it again? We looked around again and saw nothing on the horizon. At this point we asked ourselves: Does anybody else ever want to plan or do anything bigger than their local meets? We thought we would surely see rumblings or reach outs from other community leaders or even motivated members themselves. There was nothing. We decided to act again.
Here is what I (just me) think is happening (just hear me out): Everybody wants to appear to be involved and active on anything big that happens. I will be the first to admit that myself. I am a vain little bitch. The thought of being looked at as being a paper tiger as a CO scares me to death.
The weird thing concerning that is: I also think everybody actually wants to be involved. I believe that in my heart and I appreciate that fact, but, I don’t think people have the motivation to put the wheels in motion or get their hands dirty with the work. Those notions are completely understandable too.
We had 5 meetings as our own group trying to decide what to do with this event in question. That’s face to face, over dinner, debating. How long do you think it would take to get 7 people from across the state on the same page? It would never happen. It would never happen in a timely fashion to be sure.
Put yourself in a position of a CO in FL right now. You have not planned or made comments about doing any kind of large statewide meet to anyone. You are busy planning local meets and being active in your region and everything is going great. Somebody besides you starts a big event without consulting you. Are you mad at not being consulted or are pleased that something big is being planned? Do you reach out and support the notion or do you subvert the situation?
Am I an ass for voicing this theory? I don’t think so because I am guilty of being the same way at times.
I will let you and others determine what I look like in all of this.
We did not plan this event to demonstrate anything negative. We did it because there was something missing. Something we thought we could provide a solution to.
I am also excited to see other events in the pipeline, and at the same time am truly disappointed that people are hating instead of supporting the event. I'm sitting back, reading the posts and just shaking my head in sadness over the whole situation. I fear that a cloud is forming over the heads of the event(s) in the near future and I hope that it will pass sooner than later!

Here's my line in the sand: if I knew of the planning and did nothing to contribute, then I have no legs to stand on and should STFU and color. That's the angle it seems you agree with, and I am totally onboard with that.
On the other side of the line: if the planning was done and there was no effort by the local Tampa committee to reach out to the other CO's, then the dissatisfaction is warranted and completely understandable.
Now, that's the two sides and we all know there's a third (the truth). What that is? I dunno. My short 25 years on this planet tell me its more than likely a mixture of both. One thing I do know is this could have been better planned no matter what line you stand on, and I hope going forward my observations and the subsequent feelings which follow are taken into account for the next big "meet".
we were calling it something else because there was leftover drama from 2009 about one group of people doing something out of turn and calling it a supermeet.
Supermeet, schmoopermeet!!! LOL
personally I could not care less what we call it. Call it "the mid-spring collection of like-minded car enthusiasts congregating in the same basic area meet" or the "Rob is a big fat dooty head meet" I dont care. I just want to have a good time.
Wait, I think I misread what I quote of your post Rob. So you guys PURPOSELY did not consult anyone else for this planning? That's fine for a regional thing, but for the entire state? That's vain and little offensive to say the least.
