Calling on Florida COs
lets get down to brass tacks on this thing:
--where are you planning to host 400+ cars
--who are you thinking of for catering
--where are you estimating price breaks on tickets
--have you discussed insurance either as a stand alone policy or if Titan or another location has coverage for attendance close to 1000 people
--event equipment (tents tables and chairs)
--how are you going to get 400+ s2000 owners to come out (i am not poo-pooing the estimate ** I like those numbers** but our entire active member roster in FL is only 433)
Here are some good revenue generating ideas:
-- 50/50 raffle (onsite only)
--raffles (obviously)
here are some ideas we thought for attendance boosters:
--my fat ass in a dunk tank
--karting event (day two)
--viewers choice awards for different categories (car show trophies) voting sheet inside swag bag
--Honda/Racing VIP to do a talk
--tech demo by industry vendor/reknown mechanic or demo by performance shop with a product giveaway after
more later as dig through meeting notes....

I agree, an estimate of 400 cars is crazy. You have to understand the market before you offer the product.
I think many people neglect the cost of insurance etc. I am not being the nay sayer here but it is not just getting a bunch of cars to show up. And by the way I have run conventions for up to 1500 attendees. You don't throw an event without knowing wht the market will bear.
Look at the Wake the Dragon event. Every year they have people show up to participate without paying because they think it will be cheaper. I say Nay nay.

My original intention with this post in June was to ralley support to move in the direction of getting something done , not to stir up any grief
Ryuu,
we tried doing it that way in the past. we made decisions and threw it out there and said come to this event....that was met with vehement opposition and it failed before it even got fully off the ground.
There is about 6-7 pages of debate about it here. I welcome Leo or you or anyone, trying to get their head around whats happening in this thread, to go and read it:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=772880
So now we have to have an open discussion about what people will want out of a state-wide meet....the problem now is that people will all want different things....LOL
what is truly funny is: after everything is said and done, it will simply be another set of CO's doing what they think is best in an area they choose to do it in.
I mean, thinking realistically, is a performance shop with a Dyno going to be anymore or less of a draw in participants than a car racing museum??? Really? The meet has always been about US getting together and sharing ANY experience together. The interest in doing ANY kind of megameet ultimately lies with US , the people wanting to do something.
If you want to have a super-mega-kalfragilistic-expealadocious Meet of any kind, anywhere, at anytime, you better get your asses out there and register when it is announced.....PERIOD!!! All this back and forth banter and debate is worthless if the people do not get behind it and attend.
I am sounding like a broken record. So I will just shut up.
I am ready for anything to happen anywhere... All the stuff i said I would do in support about 5 pages are still on the table. If you want designs for magnets, tees, whatever let me know....

morning PG... thought i remembered that thread... and I had noted a definitive lack of person's from area's throughout this discussion... silly me, I had thought this was merely due to a decision to hold such meet in the middle of the state, more so towards Bandi's zone... hense I had thought Bandi was the chief of this...sad actually... we're attempting to rectify the past with this concept... and it's limited by participant envolvement... well, deep wounds heal slowly....
ok, since the S2000 is no longer produced.. since the club seems splintered.. let's just tank the idea of a state wide club meet...
i mean we have so many other multi-brand meets in every corner of the state.. hard to fit in some's calender, and until we don't, we have SPGP... maybe focus any state wide meet to encompass one of those event an tag along... supply our club with it's tee's an stuff but attend where the S2000 would be the maybe larger gathering of such a multi-brand meet.. ie, hijack their meet by our mass... would be nice to see 200 or so S2000 at a NOS event... and those guys do all the major planning an we just increase their gate with our presence... they already invite us.. why not take advantage... maybe make the SPGP the supermeet an show up in force at their party and somehow get us more included then we already are...
sorry, too early and not enough caffine yet...
thanks for understanding none of my previous posts were meant under any evil intent.. hard to say what one thinks if one's misunderstood or slammed for it..

The warehouse complex where Titan is located can house 400+ cars
--who are you thinking of for catering
We've used Latain House Grill for previous events we've done for South East Toyota and they are reletively inexpensive, have caterted for 1500+ people with no problems for us in the past and traveled to Orlando for us as well
--where are you estimating price breaks on tickets
This can not be discussed until a final budget is decided on
--have you discussed insurance either as a stand alone policy or if Titan or another location has coverage for attendance close to 1000 people
We carry our own $1mill liability insurance and our insurance company offeres 1 day event rates to double our liability for less than $600
--event equipment (tents tables and chairs)
We already hold a contract with a party rental company that has inhouse 4 40x40 tents, 6' tables and chairs. They deliver, build and prep. We used them for our Scion TCruise event and are resonably priced
--how are you going to get 400+ s2000 owners to come out (i am not poo-pooing the estimate ** I like those numbers** but our entire active member roster in FL is only 433) Its a matter of getting each CO to excite and motivate their own community. If each CO can get thier community to participate we can have a very large tunrout. Flyers, awareness for other S2000 owners that are not S2ki members.. and take into account the 15% show rate for non-s2000 vehicles (I'm sure some will trailor thier cars and there is always non-owners that still will come out to see hundreds of S2000s together)
