Calling on Florida COs
In the midst of the St Pete Grand Prix right now, this is race weekend so most of the core tampa group will be trackside all weekend

whatever....and I meant that in the most positive way possible.

Nice to know there is always someone who wants to be the reason for why things like this don't happen. Your mission is complete.
If you couldn't overcome the TRUTHS put forth by one LOWLY Cosmo Rockit, a nobody on this forum, then I feel we all need to seriously question your commitment and drive to get this thing off the ground to start with. My point most of the time is quite simply to provoke laughter and thought. Sometimes though it causes folks to shine through with their true colors.
Cosmo, Scooter has got the commitment in spades, trust on this one. He has been pushing and offering assistance since before the 2007 event in plant city. he has offered up his city and planning more times than i can count and has helped in many many things behind the scenes.
The situation is location. Scooter is in Ocala, we are in Tampa, Josh is in Orlando, Leo and crew are in Miami. Nobody has the ability to reach out and help any one area pull off a big meet.
Cosmos frustration is understandable. Scooter's frustration is understandable. These comments should be taken back and some understanding should replace them and everyone get back to square one.
lets squash this non-sense right now you two....LOL high emotions+bad timing=hurt feelings
Another HUGE problem is cooks in the kitchen. We cant do ANYTHING until we get funding, some people think sponsors are the way, and some people think charging an entry fee is the way. Well....neither of them are being done. no updates from either camp on this issue. money in general is tight all around it seems.
Back to location, this time regarding the meet itself. Where we gonna hold this thing and not piss some segment of the state off....tell me? we tried holding it right off the interstates that criss-cross this state and people either bitched or complained each time....so tell us where to have it. Miami is too far south for the rest of the state and Jax and the panhandle is too far north. That leaves the center of the state, RIGHT? Hmm we have tried Orlando, Ocala, Gainesville, Tampa, Plant City…all of which are right in the middle of the state….all we get in return is bitching about location.
Broken record time: A large meet is only going to happen if the people WILLING to plan one step up and do it. We tried 3 times over the past 2 years to do something and have met nothing but F-YOU for our effort….I CHALLENGE SOMEONE TO STEP UP AND DO A STATEWIDE MEET!!!!! Not a BBQ at a park, not a dinner at an Applebee’s and a movie starring Vin Diesel afterwards….A SERIOUS MEET!!!
Somebody start 2 poll threads…one for location and one for what the hell people want from a meet and let’s see what the masses are willing to support.

Myself and a few other members were tired of the bickering and lack of plausible and realistic conversations on this topic. The ONLY thing WE were asking for was simple and common courtesy during those conversations that only starts with a little bit of respect. Is that so hard to agree to? I believe this was a similar reason as to why there was so much controversy the first time ... in this thread.
I have attempted to ask this of 'cosmo rockit' in a respectful PM ... for which the response was NOT respectful in return (this was forwarded to both Primo and the admins btw.) Was my request so unjust? Primo, you didn't think so then and even stated you would speak with 'cosmo rockit' about this behavior (did you?) Btw ... I still would like to know what he meant by 'take it like a man'

I was also the one who started a thread in Community Organizer forums and invited every CO in Florida (and even some from Georgia) to participate with an intent to consolidate those effort. So to rebut 'cosmo rockits' ideas of what he believes the 'truths' are and my 'commitment and drive', here are the stats of that thread:

I believe my 'true colors' are pretty obvious to everyone BUT 'cosmo rockit'

you are right...... and no, I have not had the chance to talk to him about this exchange at all. With the involvement and planning I have been doing with the annual SPGP, I was in front of several people for only a brief moment or two at a time. And truthfully, so much time had passed between our exchange and my recent time with him, I forgot the issue and its importance at the time. I really figured this has passed under the bridge. It was not until this morning, when i saw the sore subject re-opened, that I considered its ramifications at all. My apologies.
Regarding the CO topic (and the concept of my involvement with any future FL state-wide meet): With my current health issues and pre-destined involvement with the SPGP as my major community effort each year at this time, I felt supremely confident that my lack of contribution was completely explained. I explained that i would help in any way I could. I explained my health status to several people including Leo, during the big plans for the state wide group drive a few months back.
My health, and the planning for the SPGP being the way it was, killed quarter 4 of last year and the first two quarters of this year for me. I have not even been to a car show since IFO Gainesville 2010 to support my other car club. I cant walk a flight of steps or push myself up from a prone position....its that bad
I am not looking for pity but I also do not want to be lumped in with the rest of the leaders in this state-wide community when "commitment" gets thrown in the ring. I may have 1 post in that CO forum thread but....you go back and read what that posts says and then ask yourself: do I mean what I say. I will take the Pepsi challenge with anyone when it comes to "Will I do what I say I will do???"......
This thread, and that CO thread, represents exactly what I have been saying all along: people don't want to actually DO ANYTHING. Not you Scooter, people in general. People love showing up to events, they just don't want to get their hand dirty...LOL!!!
Me and about 15 other people tried 3 times, over the past 3 years, to do something and got our asses handed to us by the rest of the people around here.
We are in full support to have something happen, and we will help and contribute ANYTHING we can. We are simply done sticking our necks out. Every time we do, it gets lobbed off. Our past efforts took time and energy. A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY!!!!!! We have been to this rodeo before....it is someone else's turn
Me (and many others) is/are ready to help. You (anyone) tell us what you need when you need it and we will be there. I predict that over 50% of the first 40-50 people that sign up for whatever gets produced will be from the Tampa area.....that's how serious I am about Tampa's commitment.
I dont want my name, or my community's name, mentioned EVER AGAIN when it comes to this whole supermeet fiasco when the question of commitment or follow-through comes into play.
We have demonstrated time and time again the very definition of what commitment is....None of you have the right to bring this into question. On this subject, we are irreproachable (of this fact, I am certain). Call me arrogant, call me self-righteous, call me an asshole, but don't call me late for a supermeet...EVER LOL

Orlando is the clear winner in the location poll started today....Bueller.....Bueller.....Bueller?
Have at it...we will be here when you need us........
I will gladly vote on the next poll which should be "what do we want to do at the supermeet".....

My perspective may be a bit askew and i apologize for over-reacting...I am (just today)coming off of 4, 16 hour days of commitment to the S2KI community

My response was directed at 'cosmo rockit' primarily as it was he who felt compelled to question my dedication
I was only attempting to provide evidence to the contrary and not an effort to throw anyone under the proverbial bus. You and I have come to understand just how strangely complex this process is ... yet does not need to be. All any of us want is a little civility. I've come to realize cosmo does not subscribe to that after a minimal amount of searching this site. I'm sorry that my skin isn't thick enough for his liking.
I find it a little disturbing and silly in how he presumes so much without any real data or query

this thread was never started to get into this.. It was something started just to get the interest of everyone in the state(southeast) into the direction of a meet. The meet we did in Plant City 2 years ago was a HUGE success and had people from far out of the state who attended, i was JUST trying to drum up that type of interest.
I really hope that a lot of the back an forth in this tread can be put aside and we can move forward. I vote this thread be locked(prefer to have it deleted) as to get rid of the statements that have been too over the top and pissed anyone else off.
The sole purpose of us putting together a supermeet is to Hang Out With Friends and enjoy something we all have in common, the delight of driving a fun car!!
I for one have made A LOT for friends all over the state (and out of the state) since owning an S2000 and i would like that to continue to be the case. I would hate to see something like planning a meet be the reason some of us do not get along like we should. I am in for an event where ever in the state it is held and look forward to the voting polls to support such a meet
BTW , no speculation ! I locked this thread . I do not want anyone arguing or fighting over arranging a meet for something that is meant to be a fun time . I'm gonna start a time out thread and put people in time out
