Car Alarm....
Never have given a great deal of thought to car alarms/security systems beyond standard dealer issue stuff. This whole seat theft thing really has become an issue with me. With that said, can any of you fine folks recommend a really good alarm system for the s2k? My only real experience with car alarms is hearing them go off in a parking lot and watching the masses mill about and pay little or no attention to them. I know there are some that will page you when someone molests your car... one of those and a baseball bat might work.
Also, thinking back to my old MGB, MG Midget days from my mispent youth... Those wiser than me always said never lock a soft top car.... they're going to get in if they see something they want.... I do that once in awhile with the Honda and just make it a point never to leave anything I'm too attached to inside the car... except for the seats.
These are great forums, by the way... learned a great deal from just logging on and reading what you guys have to say. Appreciate the info you all provide.

read all the way through, my posts should give you all the info you need. If you're local to S. Florida contact Mike Dixon @ Audio Logic. He has done many of our cars and tell him I sent you.
Personally I would get a clifford.
and do a search seat locks you need a set

I have a viper with a proximity asensor and I am very happy with it. Just make sure they mount the proximity sensor up in the secret compartment and not in the console.
I sleep much better at night knowing the car is protected

I'm very happy with my Compustar with proximity sensor, pager and remote start.
The installation makes 1000% difference with ANY alarm though. Make sure you get opinions/referrals and see work that the installer has done before letting them tear into your car.
My car is parked in a parking garage and there are several cars with alarms that go off constantly, but mine never does (save for the first stage warn trigger when someone with a huge stereo or loud exhaust pass my car), because it is adjusted correctly. Get the sensors dialed in correctly and it will not be a nuissance because it will not go off unless someone is actually messing with your car. This WILL require re-adjusting the sensors probably once a week for the first month of ownership before they are just right. It's not too difficult though, and the peace of mind is very worth it.

I agree with the proper adjustment caveat.
I have been happy with multiple purchases of the Viper responder series (#791 and others)
my last purchase was for my OG S2k and it was 4 years ago. I am sure they have made improvements and advances since then.
Not a cheap option to go with but it is worth it.

Viper 5701 here w/remote start and turbo timer. Works great. Good range, and I like having the 2-way pager option, so you know immediately if someone is screwing with your ride! Adding a proximity sensor sometime in the near future...
