Clutch Buzz
I had the clutch buzz bad. After I checked around, the dealerships ended up trying to tell me that only the DSM or the zone office could make that decision and that I was to contact them. I thought that to be a bit funny. I thought to myself "why would THEY not contact the DSM or zone office with my issue".
HMMM.... I chalked it up to lazy service managers and called one more Honda dealership. They gave me a little more insight but he also told me that most of the so called "clutch buzzes" he came in contact with turned out to be exhaust rattles and at that point asked me if I had installed an after-market exhaust to which I replied "hell yes" like and idiot. He then said that he was sure that was what the problem.
I asked if the TSB could be honored and he said of course for the fee of replacing the pressure plate or whatever the TSB called for (i forget now) plus labor. I then asked what about the goodwill consideration? to which he asked are you under warranty? I said no and then he said it was highly unlikely. So after a week or two of this rigamarole, I was exasperated. So there I was until last week when i got my new clutch installed and the problem went away.
So bye bye Mr. Exhaust Rattle!!!!!!
Sorry this offers no more insight but I thought it to be a funny quip so I chose to include it.
I suggest you show up at one of the bigger Honda dealers and describe the problem and present the TSB and let a tech drive the car. Then ask if they can offer the fix to you as a goodwill offering (having the car in warranty coverage helps this immensly) if the car is out of warranty, ask them who the DSM is and or the number to the zone office and plead your case to them.
Tell them you are part of a high visibility car club devoted soley to the S2000 and that you make apperances at several sponsored events. That helps me from time to time.
