Diesel Mechanic?
Hey there,
Does anyone know of a good diesel mechanic or shop in the Jacksonville area? My buddy has a '95 Ford Super Duty that's given him a headache. He thought he had a clogged fuel filter so he changed that out, but its still messed up.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks,
Craig

Well for starters its a '95 Ford Super Duty pick up with almost 250k on the odometer. Thats the first problem.
According to my pal, since he bought it a couple months ago its been running great, and then last week it starting idling really rough, and then would just die. So he immediately though he could've gotten some bad gas or have a dirty fuel filter. He swapped in a new filter, and flushed the lines. It ran great for a few minutes and then right back to crappy again.
Its throweing a CEL which I encouraged him to pull the code on. Also apparently whacking various parts of the truck(ie firewall, ECU, etc) while its running can make it both start and stop acting weird. He's tread that it could be a cam sensor so that might explain that.
Anyhow, he's kinda over it since he needs it for work so he wants someone besides FORD to look at it.

Tell him to go to autozone and have the codes pulled, I work for a Ford dealership in Orlando, and I could talk with my techs, and possibly give him some help. Also, when he replaced the filter did he prime it good? Turn that yellow lever and cycle the key.
