you got it GP.. they have a really strange an tough job.. i mean, except for the few who know friends or such in some force, most give them grief and zero respect, an damn.. we need'm and it'a dirty job... cameras at intersections an tickets for those who innocently run red lights would i feel vastly decrease the run red lights and in cases prevent a ton a accidents an deaths.. adding camera's to needed area's an keep support options available to street cops, troopers or whomevers applicable has got to be some method to curb this anarchy... i wouldn't say we need every inch covered, like apparently england has the most cam's coverage.. but.. what can it hurt to cover the area's of concern.. the primary area's of traffic danger.. and build out from there...

Well according to what some of the posters are saying, you would need 5-10 cameras every single block to replace the officers they say will lose their jobs if we had cameras instead of cops.

Well, when you're making 38 grand to start in palm beach, broward and dade and 33 grand to start for the rest of the state along with outdated tech, you'd be pretty pissed off and disgruntled and sit on your ass when mostly every dept starts you off at 45 grand. FHP loses about 10-20 troopers a month to other depts. And maybe that trooper sitting on his/her ass is writing a long report or a short report or running radar or looking for infractions or waiting for another trooper.

And BTW, a troopers main job is to pull people over along with traffic and accidents on designated highways. The rest is handled by the county and city cops such as robbery, domestics, burglary, ect...

And by the way, show me a camera that can pull someone over for speeding, run their license, find out they have a warrant and arrest them or do a DUI test...
I love it, you just totally proved my point! Cameras are only primarily there to generate revenue and can NOT do a cops job. This is what I have been saying all along...

Now knowign this, for some states who are in a revenue crunch, you honestly think they will not curb hiring inplace of cameras to some degree? Notice I said to a degree and not certainly or totally....

And again, I have said time and time again ,there are good cops and there are bad cops, there is no whole in the proportion. Maybe youre one of the good ones taking shit because some D head cop pushed around too many innocent people, or maybe youre one of the bad ones, who knows?

No doubt, most police do have a very hard and dangerous job. I am also all for the redlight cameras, I have never seen a legit reason to blow a redlight. Speed cameras; however, are another story. There are countless cases where their calibration and measuring equipment is not within operating spec and they issue hundreds of illegtimate tickets, not to mentinon the impact the speed cams have on traffic.... can we say congestion and evereyone slams on brakes when the flash goes off, tell me a "Unsafe Stop" reduces driving hazards.

I have never had a ticket personally, except one recently in AZ which I won in cour! And the best part was watching the cop pout when the judge found me not guilty. A dash camera is your best friend!!

But as for most cops not getting respec, you have the reputation you have earned. You dont have to always have a chip on your shoulder with the power trip.
