Default Forida Emissions testing & inspection?

Hello Florida people:

I'm getting ready to begin my job search to move down from Ohio to Florida and I'm curious what procedure is done to have a vehicle registered and re-titled in Florida?

The reason this is an issue now is because I recently replaced the header back exhaust on my g/f's Ep3 civic si. I still have the cat that was removed, but I want to know if its worth repairing & keeping or not. My county in Ohio doesn't have inspection, Emission testing, or even many rules about what they're willing to put a license plate on.

I figured this would be a good place to ask as google gives the message that some counties do, some did, and some might still have testing and inspection.

Information from anyone else that has gone through this would be helpful in having me determine what car parts I need to hold on it.

There is no emissions testing or inspection in FL. They did away with that years ago.

All you have to do as far as your car is keep insurance on it and renew your plate every year(costs about $60) thats it.

Thank you.

Thats good. I didn't want to have the flanges repaired on that cat just to bring it down for inspections & emissions.

get higher coverages than needed, florida is a no fault state and there are also plenty of people driving with no insurance at all(illegal and all).. I have lease coverages on my car(full coverage and then some) even though my car is paid for

I've heard some people pay several hundred dollars to transfer titles/registrations to Florida. Be sure to contact a Florida DMV office to know for sure what it will cost and what they may require. You could PM Speedworksracing about this as he is in the car business (in Orlando.)

When I moved down in October of 2009 it was $60.xx for a Florida driver license and $398.xx for have my title and have the car registered in Florida.

For liability limits on insurance I recommend 100/300/100 as people like to sue down here.

So, do you carry uninsured motorist coverage?

The insurance won't be a problem. Those are pretty close to my coverage limits now.

But $400 bucks to do the car and title in Florida? Damn. I assume that's per car. So if I brought 3 cars, I'd be looking at over 1200 bucks?

Have you bought any of the vehicles in the past six months? If so, you will have to pay sales tax also!
