Group Drive - Who is Coming?
Welp ... I'll have to try this again with you guys next time. I'm still trying to figure out which came first, the flat or the fishtail. On the very turn we were all warned about, with traction control, my car lost control, I wound up stalled out on the side of the road. Re-started the car without issue. The only thing I can figure is that I goosed it a little too early out of the turn, and with so much sand, I had no prayer. If the tire was already flat, that could have contributed, but I don't know the physics of all that.
The cut in my tire was on the tread and about 1/2" long. Looked like a piece of metal pierced it. So, $300 later, I got a new tire on. Car is more than fine, situation was a little scary, but I hit absolutely nothing, it was a harmless spin out - all in all.
Now for the moronic part ... I thought I had run-flats. THOUGHT. So I drove on the tire for about 10-20 more miles, found a nice patch of concrete to change the tire and headed to Allied back in Tampa (on my donut - since it was well more than 50 miles home). They tell me they can patch it, but when they take it off, the sidewall is trashed. I take another look at the tires and they're simply Pilot Sports ... no run flats here. If I had changed the tire immediately, it more than likely was fixable ... sumuma bitch.
So I'm kicking myself in the ass for breaking rule #1 (don't drive on a flat) and I missed ALL the fun. If you guys will have me again, I'd love to tag along again next time. Hope you all had a safe trip!!!!

Big Thanx to all who turned out to have a fun day. The weather was flawless and we arrived at the Pub with no crunched sheet metal nor points missing from our Licenses. Traffic was as expected but still had plenty of opportunities to open it up "a little".
Certainly appreciate the maturity shown throughout the day.
If only Honda knew how street tested their cars were really being put through...??
I hoped that all enjoyed the Route as much as I do. And as mentioned, this should be the first of several more Group Drives before the cooler season disappears. Please post up your thoughts, suggestions & desires and we will do our best to satisfy everyone.
