Default Help! about s2000 paint job!

Ok..listen up S2000 lovers! I had my car repaired from an accident a little while ago (1month). I got a new front bumber, hood and right front quarter panel. I think the place that fixed it did a lousy job on the paint. I have about 6 little chips on the hood ALREADY. THere are a couple chips on the bumer and 1 or 2 on the quarter panel. WHat my QUESTION is...is can a bad paint job CAUSE these chips?????? I always wash the bugs off, I dontg tailgate and I dont drive by the edge of the raods where the little tiny debri is. I am kinda pissed because I think that is why and grrrrrrr..... I am just so pissed because I love my baby. Someone please answer my question. Thank you...

Yes . That's the short answer . I'd need to see the chips to speculate anymore , can you get some pics ?

That would be awesome, bc I am kinda ticked. I picked up the car like 1 month ago maybe a month and a half. The insurance covered it, because it was wrecked, so I checked everything and it looked great. I washed it 3 days later and part of the paint on the bumper chipped off, so I took it back for that and they half ass fixed it. Anyways.... I got the chips about 2 weeks later, I thought it was from this idiot in front of me that decided at the last minute to get off the interstate, went through the grass and all this debri flew at my car. I couldnt stop bc cars were behind me, but i dodged everything the best i could. Well, even since then i have gotten more chips, so i dont think it was from that. I think it is the paint job. I cant wait for the meet and cant wait to meet other s2000 owners. I will see you then.

The insurance company has to make it like it was before the accident. if you are not happy take it back and demand better paint or better crasftmanship.

Should have demanded Honda paint by a honda certified body shop. then ther would be less speculation. If they gave you thecar back with soft paint it is thier fault not yours that it chipped. The clear coat should have been hardend by heat lamps and properly dried etc etc.

2 stage metallics are hard to match, ask me about my trials and tribulations with silverstone. There are at least two different builds for our silver paints. all of the pearls and metallics are a pain to match up.

Did they paint the pieces off the car or did they do a proper fade job into your doors and whatnot?

if the bottom line is...... you are not happy and are suspect, take it back and dont back down. They are suposed to make you happy and the paint should be as good as factory no matter what.

Those are the most important things to remember . If it's not right , they have to fix it . At any rate , I'll take a look at it and tell you EXACTLY (why the paint is failing) what to tell your insurance company , if you want to go that route . If some paint chipped off while you were washing it - well , that's not a good thing . Hopefully , we can help you get it fixed .

Thanks so much. I got a few opinions and I really believe they are chips. Like the shop that repaired my car said dont wax it for a month. I didnt wax it, but what I am trying to get at is the paint is soft and it chips easily. I am ticked bc I want it to look like new. But, whatever. I am keeping my s2000 FOREVER, bc it will be a classic in 10-20yrs. It is a rare breed. I will get it repainted all over when I buy a second car and can park it for good. Thank you for your help. Looks like I wont make the meet. It is too early in Daytona. I have to work in ocala until 12:30 and by the time I get there it will be 2:30-3pm. So I am out on this meet. Wish it was on Sunday. Oh well, next time. Talk to you later!

No problem . It's a shame about the meet though . Oh well , whatcha gonna do ? If you need any further assistance , let me know .

BTW , mine goes under the knife on Monday (door damage) . I trust the shop , so I know she'll be taken care of .
