Default Help... Please!

As some may or may not know the motor in my car finally spun a bearing... Again. I knew it was inevitible with all the repairs and welding this crank has seen... I just didn't think it'd kci it this soon...

Anyway I want to buy a new oem shortblock rather than dick around with any rebuilding or using some beatup junkyard swap...

Does anyone here have any dealer hookups that could result in being able to beat or come close to the Majestic Honda price and not charge me shipping? For an F22 majestic wants like $2400, then another $400 to ship it... Ridiculous.

Any help is appreciated... I would really like to get back to driving my baby. Thanks!

Thumbs up

does Hardtopguy (jeff) go deep with his parts list? I am not sure how extensive his parts availability is but he is usually cheaper than most on new stock parts.

Curious questions:

is your SB fubar or you just dont want the X factor involved with a rebuild?

I have gone through 2 rebuilds and I never actually looked at cost of rebuild from the ground up Vs. going with a new SB. I know with a new SB you would save some clock hours (going through a shop) and some expense in machining various parts but what about a guy like you that could/would do it all yourself?

Does a new OEM SB offer a more reliable option? engine would be "tighter" (for lack of a better term) to spec?

Just wondering because I do not know the cost difference between rebuilding and machining a spun engine Vs. starting with a new SB and going from there. It would be interesting to research in case I have to do something radical like that myself.

Can you blog your experience for us please....LOL

New OEM shortblock with professional install and no power adds will have warranty from Honda. Nice to be able to depend on Honda building their engine too. This will very very likly require a core though(to get a credit). Most tranny, Engine, even A/C compressors have a core charge

Hey guys! Thanks for your help!

Blacknot:I don't mind a drive to save some bucks... please do ask him

JohnsS2000: Thanks man!

Primo: I looked on his site, and didn't see anything really. I haven't contacted him about it though, but i don't know him, and theres no incentive for him to lower the price for someone he doesn't know

The SB is really just... well... i don't want to mess with it anymore. It had a spun main bearing when i got it, and was fixed... sorta.. i don't know. I do have another good crank i can swap in and rebuild with, but there is still that "what if" that i simply don't want to deal with. If the block was known-good, and the crank was good, then i'd have no issue at all building the motor... i've built many that have done juuuuust fine... but this motor, for some reason, just won't stay together... so i want no part of it anymore at all.. lol!

The cost difference is quite substantial... but its worth it to me to have a factory-assembled, known-good part that i can just drop in and be done with, and get back to racing... er... driving calmly on the street

JohnsS2000: i DO have a core if that makes any difference to your buddy... its sitting on an engine stand and is the motor that i was going to take the crank out of for a rebuild... I can bring it with me when i pick the motor up from wherever.

RXDI: as Rob so eloquently put it, i already mentioned Majestics pricing But thanks!
