Where do you live? Also, there are some threads on DIY soft top replacement if your looking to save some $$$$. It is very labor intensive, so be prepared to pay up.

What was srong with your old one? I had mine replaced for free but it had to go through a bunch of approvals first so they could determine it was not my fault at all.

Cars an 00, had tears on both side, and the back plastic window cracked. I have no real tools and am frankly frightened of doing the top myself.

Do it yourself. It does take forever and you will be sore after you do it, but its about 12 hours of work give or take and thats 600 bucks at the shop minimum.

Here's how I look at it because time is money.

What do you make an hour on average at work? Can you pay someone less than it would take you to do the job at your hourly wage times 12 hours or whatever it takes to do the job?

Granted, I could pay someone a lot less than what it "costs" me to detail my S or cut my yard but I still enjoy doing those things. They are a release for me so I do those things anyway. I wouldn't personally enjoy working on a top that I have no clue about how to do for 12 hours and getting sore as heck, etc.

Again just my opinion. I know guys that have replaced their tops themselves. Didn't make monetary sense but they enjoyed doing it to some degree. A sense of accomplishment I guess. Not my thing. I'll spend 80 hours painting a mural in my kids room but I'll pay someone else to paint the living room one color. I enjoy "creating" something for my kids but painting a room something normal? No thanks. Just me.

$450 is a good price to have a top replaced. Iwould say do it yourself, but at that price, it's worth it to have someone else deal with it. It's a PITA.
