Default Infinitely better

Just finished installing new door speakers in the S. Went with Infinity Reference 6 1/2 plus a pair of Infinity tweeters. Sounds very clear with my Pioneer head unit. Not a mind blowing system but a hell of a lot better than the stock system. Cant wait to do the rears (also infinity) and a sub.

BTW Love your Bucaneer Bruce avatar.....I survived the first two loosing seasons when the team started. Coach John Mc Kay was asked after yet another loosing game about his team's execution and he replied "Yes, they should be executed"

It is amazing how much beter a stero upgrade makes this car mo' betta'. But just like any other mod on this car, it's like crack, you always want more. I'm just glad that I am not the ony one. Your comments about further development bring satisfaction to my ears (and wallet).

Last year I started with the head unit, an Alpine CDA-9851. Then, the POLK Momo 6.5 components in the doors. Things were not quite what I wanted so I sound proofed the entire car; the trunk, the tunnel wall, the floors, the door skins (both sides), etc. It brought up the scale but as expected, not what I was accustomed to. So, tomorrow, I have an appointment to mount some more stuff that I have had laying around for some time. I am going to have the rear loaded with Polk 5.25 Coax mounted into the plastic panels right behind the seat like the Lucid photos show on their site. These magnets will just fit the limited space provided without having to cut the sheet metal. These will run off the power of the head unit just for the missing ambient sound. Then, I have an Alpine Amp that pushes 100W x 2 at 2ohm that I am going to hook up to the Momo's in the doors. They will be attached to to a pair of Aura PRO Bass Shakers monted directly to the bottom of the Front Seats. As a final mod (famous last words...) I have an Alpine Powered Factory Sub Box with a 10"Driver (6492GX) that unbelievable fits right into the cavity of the trunk in the section right over the toll box. This will be set up with a quick disconnect plug that will allow me to yank it out when the luggage space is needed on trips in about 2 seconds.

Anyways, as I am typing this out, it appears to me that I on the borderline of hijacking your thread. But the point is, have lots fun with your tunes and make sure that you keep us all posted with your progress. There are so many things that the S2KI community has done so adding yours will be another source of information to the lessons learned for future investors. Crank it Up!!!!

No hijack ....thanks for the info.

For my Sub I am going to try tthe KENWOOD KSC-SW1 mounted on a piece of starboard that is cut to fit the tool well. I also will have it on quick disconects to remove for added trunk room. I will let everyone know how it works out. I would like to hear (feel) the base shakers.. Are you happy with them??

Hey Captain, where are you going to mount your rear speakers??

I was going to try the setup like Lucid's, But was wondering about the ones that go in the roll bar loop...

I've got the S-pods (Roll bar hoop speakers) with Infinity reference powered by the headunit. They are great. As long as you do not over power them, imaging is not an issue. For me it was a far better solution than cutting the panels behind the seat.

Never been big on cutting so I bought the Lucid panels. Install will be delayed as I have been called out of town on business next weekend.

I would almost like to do a set of S pods and have them on a switch when imaging doesnt matter. I listen to talk radio and audio books on trips so the S pods might work for that. I am alo looking for another alternative to the S pod for behind the head. I will let you know what I find.
