All this talk of stereo equipment...I finally caved.
Purchased a Pioneer DEH-P5800MP, CDT Audio KANA KA-61 component speakers, a pair of the Aura Pro Bass Shakers, Modifry wired DCI, and the Pioneer iPod adaptor. Hopefully it all gets here sometime this week so I can have it all installed by the end of the weekend.
Oh yeah.....but I did it backwards. I should have put the Invidia exhaust on the car first then I could have put the stereo in to overpower the exhaust.
Yeah, I'm going to do it all myself, and with the help of a friend.
Luckily, my exhaust isn't all that loud (much quieter than the Invidia), but like every exhaust out there, it drones on the highway. I'd like something to knock down that noise a little bit. That and my last car (Mazdaspeed Protege) came from the factory with a decent Kenwood system. 650-Watt, 7-speaker with a 10" sub. So stepping into the Honda and hearing the piddly OEM cd player was killing me.
I did a bit of work on mine And still working on it, it never ends
Here is a pic if you want an idea
Before
41/4" polk coaxial
And after
51/2" MTX components with a cross over sitting behind the vent side of the black panel.
I still have my blue panels but, did not have the heart to cut them
I had a spacer made because there to big to fit in the hole like a coaxial would have.
Ben, think there's any chance I can fit a 6.5 coax back there? maybe with the spacer?
Josh,
I remember seeing a couple of threads months back in the electronics forum showing that some folks cut out the sheet metal that currently prevents you from mounting anything of a 6.5" speaker back there. I came accross it when I was searching to see who had used the same Bass Shakers that I now have. My 5.25" Polks offer the void I was missing but if you really want that loud surround sound effect, you'll have to surrender your wallet to the S-Pods.
Whether you want to start cutting into your car is up to you but the pics showed what it looked like with before and after pics. If I get some time later today I'll try to dig up the thread.
As of now I have 6.5 coax in the fronts, with some 6.5 components on order to replace them. I wanted to try and move the coax to the back so I didn't have to buy another set. Hopefully I can get them to fit, I don't mind cutting. It's hidden anyways.
