Default Insurance... WTF!?!?!

SO I found out I might be moving to Florida. Sweet.

I live in San Antonio TX at the moment, and currently pay roughly $1100/6 months insurance. I'm with USAA who quoted usually 50-100/month cheaper than all the rest as I'm military.

I'm 21 March 4, clean record, no tickets, no accidents, etc. I have a lot of discounts with them (Good payment, account holder, etc).

When I called about insurance there - and they ran it three times - for the SAME COVERAGE I HAVE NOW - $3933.01 every 6 months. Thats $655/month people! Thats insane.

So - who are ya'll using for insurance, whos cheapest (with good coverage), how does it compare if you've moved, etc? I need to know EVERYTHING I can. This just seems illogical. Its beyond comprehension. Help, please.

Rick

I think it may be due to the seat theft that goes on in that area. Orlando, Tampa and South are the most prevalent areas for this to occur.

I can understand and was expecting an increase - but this is beyond excessive.

There ARE people on this board and in said cities that drive these cars that are regular - nonmillionare - people. I need answers - please. I might have to sell my S2000

I have 21st century and pay about $200 a month, but I'm leaving these lying cheating motherf'ers as soon as I can...I never had an ounce of trouble with my car and theft until I became their customer...since the switch I've had nothing but problems. I used to have State Farm and paid about $120 a month, but I had a rock shatter my windshield and after State Farm paid for it, they dropped me

Insurance in FL is a f'ing scam. They'll raise your rates for any reason they want, when they want, or just drop you whenever they feel like it. Allstate got bitchslapped by the state for it's illegal practices, then the next day was allowed to sell policies again. Deep pockets man.

I'm with Allstate and my rates aren't that bad. I do have a multi car discount though. GREAT local agent.

If I remember correctly, I'm paying 1700-1800 for 6 months on 3 cars. Full coverage on the S and the C70, liability only on the accord. Plus I just added my 16yo daughter to my policy, that is what it went UP to.

I just got a flyer from Metlife that they're starting auto insurance...I'm thinking of either giving them a try, or going with E-surance (their marketing gets me - I'm a tree hugger at heart )

I'm with Progressive, and even with having no tickets in the last 4 years, i'm at about $250 per month with a fairly low deductable... But i live in a low-crime, non-metro area, and the car is garaged... i was thinking it'd be lower than that, but i guess not.

I have USAA as well in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Every time I look around they are still the cheapest. Mine is only 600 for 6 months, but I am 31 and married. Good luck with the move.
