Intakes!?!?!?!?
So I have two inakes for my car. I used to have the Comptech on the car, Then someone gave me the AEM V2 and I put it on the car.
Which one should I keep and which one should I sell. There is no reason to keep one ont he shelf but it seem so permenent to sell one.
The AEM is true cold air but has the chance of hydrolock...
The Comptech is beautiful and not made anymore but I know I could get more out of it if I sold it.
What is a boy to do?

I have the AEM V2 back in the day and loved it the sound and the lil hp gain. The comptech looks nice too it looks good in the engin bay your choice dude. I would go for keeping the AEM V2 I'm more about power then look my .02cents
Doesn't the AEM has some design issues with the way the pipe bends before the filter? I know you can "fix" it by making a shield, but IMO parts should just work, that's what I dislike about the AEM.
I have the V2 and realized a true 7 HP gain vs stock
I have heard the hydrolock issue over and over again. unless you plow into a lake or resting water that covers your hood...I find it hard to believe the V2 will hydro lock. With the 4 inch cross tube, the 3 inch up tube and the umbrella (combats the drip effect from the water drain holes around the fenders in the engine compartment) and safety foam valve-filter thingy you can install you are virtually 100% protected. I dont have either and I have had ZERO issues.
The only thing I conciously do during heavy rain is keep the revs low and gearing high and avoid standing water at all costs. If the filter does get saturated you will encounter bogging going into vtec. if that happens just back the hell off it and do normal driving and shifting until it dries out.
Seriously, like 3 years now in every type of rain event imaginable and no problems here... daily driven over 70 miles a day....365 days a year
V2 all day and twice on sunday

Did some testing on Mase's dyno comparing the AEM vs the Comptech with some HUGE carpet dryer fans blowing into the nose of the car....same car for both pulls and the day's temp/pressure were similar. Both made the same peak hp and the Comptech had better mid-range before VTEC. Was a surprising result.

I have personally hydrolocked an S2000 with a short am intake driving through a deep puddle. Just enough splashed up and got sucked in. With the engine being so high compression it only takes one ounce of water to hydrolock it since water will not compress.

Probably the same reason why it failed in business
