well here is my thoughts behind that idea. When you have cold air flowing it tends to move more air through the throttle body because air molecules get closer together when the air becomes chilled which makes it easier to flow which I'm sure u already knew that

BTW. I believe CT engineering is the "new" name for comptech. or they took over, whatever the story is. Same people making the same products.

Speedy wasn't asking on how to ghettoize his S2000, he was/is asking which intake he should keep and which one to sell.

I vote keep the Comptech, sell the V2.

Ok-been thinking about this.

I doubt seriously that a bag of ice, placed in your airbox, is going to reduce the incoming air temp in any great amount. The air would be simply too fast for it to have a chance for it to be cooled.

Assuming from the front bumper air intake to TB it's 48inches. Figure the airbox is about 24" in front of the TB, and there is 24" of tubing/intake before the airbox.

At 60mph, air is moving at about 90' per second. It would take that 'bit' of air less than 1/10 of second to enter/filter/hit the TB, leaving zero time for the air temp to cool, in fact, the air temp *might* actually rise, due to friction/drag in the intake tubing.

I think you would need a crap load more ice than a baggy full of ice to decrease the temp at all.

*Of course, I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so my figures maybe off a little.

Don't forget to calculate in the amount off loss due to added wieght of a large container of ice, and whether any power gained is enough to make up for that added weight, and lost handling due to added weight being placed out in front of the car...
