If you are lucky the caps didn't break. sounds like u had a good factory one. most won't hold up to that abuse that long.

Let me know if I can help.

Ooooh nice story. 78K on my clutch and axles, I am feeling the inner CV vibrations on the interstate, it's almost my time!

FWIW, When my CV joints were going, the symptom was it felt like I was driving on gravel when under hard acceleration in a turn. When the car was straight, or not under hard acceleration, things felt fine. I got them replaced under my extended warranty at about 63K.

Extended warranty, boy did they mess up when they sold you that. If only they knew that the car was being raced everyweekend.

Au Contraire, Thanks to the reliability of this little car, in all the time I've had it, the only things that have gone wrong have been 1) Clutch @ 60K, 2) Inner CVs @ 63K, and 3) Diff @ 67K. And you can ask Willie Gee how much I baby my S2K. Well actually, you've seen me in action, too!

The clutch I replaced myself, and my warranty expired in March prior to the diff, so the only thing the warranty covered for my entire ownership of this car was the inner CVs. BTW, I usually expect to replace a clutch around 60K for a manual gear box, so it's hard to even call that precision driving related.

I don't really know how much I paid for the extended warranty, as the dealer basically through it in "for free" to sweeten the deal and push me off of the fence after I'd already negotiated what I thought was a pretty good deal, and was debating the final decision.
