Default Looking to Sell

Since a lot of you FL people know me, I figured I'd post this here, as well as in the NC forum. I think you guys would be good with feedback.

I think the time has come for me to sell the S. Where has anyone had luck selling any of their cars? I'm thinking Autotrader.com is my best bet?

As for my price, KBB has trade at just over $18k, private sale at just over $20k, and retail at over $22k. I actually owe $20k on it still, so I'm needing to at least get payoff for it.

2002, Spa Yellow, around 33k miles, mosty highway (trips to Key West, trips to/from FL and NC. No accidents, no engine problems, never has needed any service, doesn't burn oil. Always garaged, driven on the weekends only, sometimes not driven for weeks to months at a time. Original owner, bought the car new with 6 miles on it.

Mods are cleared corners, cleared sides, Invidia with silencers (also still have stock exhaust), 4IG CAI (also still have stock air box), yellow/black shift boot, Muz front under car X brace, and eyelids (easily removed if needed to).

Honda options are the side strakes, front lip, rear spoiler.

New front tires, rears still have half life left, fresh oil change (synthetic, every 3-4k mile change). Front of car has usual rock chips as a car with 34k miles would.

Feedback?

Thanks,
Dave

So are you REALLY selling her this time?

Hope not but best of luck to you if you do. What will you get in her place? Lotus I bet.

I know you have taken great care so your price is probably warranted. If you're going to immediately replace you might consider a trade in for the simple fact of the tax break you'll get doing everything at one time. Considering the care you've put into your car you obviously won't get near the private value you're seeking but you never know and might want to test those waters while you're contemplating.

Ask $22,500 take $21
Anyone who knows the car will give you that. There are few nice mods that make the car that much more fun to own and will save the new owner some cash.
I would try the local paper first with a 2 week ad and, also put it out in a safe place were a good bit of traffic will see it.
This kind of car sells fast private and the new owner can still get it Honda certified for peace of mind.
And you can always have any potential buyers come on this forum and we will all attest to the fact that the car is striate up

DO NOT LET ANYONE DRIVE IT!

This is a high performance car not a buick. If who ever wants it and is truly a buyer they will buy without a driving it. They can go to a dealer to drive one of there used S2000 to see if this is the car for them.

I have bought and sold more than 100 cars and when it comes to high end high performance no one drives for free. I will give a ride to a serious buyer but never hand the keys over till the deal is complete.

The last performance car I sold was Aprils MR2 Spyder and it was bought with out even a ride around the block. The buyer new right away the car was right and new what they were looking at, not even a price haggle.

You want a buyer who has been looking for an S2000 they will be happy to buy your car after looking at all the carped out beat S's out there

Dave, when I bought my S three years ago, I found her online at AutoTrader.com . I went to check it out and didn't even drive it. I didn't have to. You could tell from how it was kept and how the owner was that it was in GREAT condition. (I had previously driven an S at the local dealership, so I knew what to expect.)

The guy who sold it to me said he had a lot of wanna-be's calling about it. You know what I mean....those 18 year olds who just want to do a few burn-outs and crazy test drives. He got so sick of telling people 'no' when they asked to drive it that he was actually surprised when I didn't ask. I'm with Puddy on this one. Don't let anyone drive it. If they want to see what it can do & how it drives, you take them out for a demo & they can experience it from the passenger side.

Good luck with the sale.

Yeah, that's the thing, I really don't want to let people drive it. So, you think I can actually sell it without letting someone drive it? What if I didn't let kids drive it, only "mature" people, and went with them on the drive?

Just throwing in another perspective... I would never buy a car without driving it. When I bought my car the guy handed me the keys and said "Take it for a spin." That's the first time I was really able to see what an S2000 could do, without that opportunity I seriously doubt I'd have taken her home that night.

Did you ever see the movie Used Cars.....See it
I'm telling ya Dave DO NOT LET anyone drive the car, The car can get away from anyone and then what??? "O I'm sorry did I do that

And this will be you

If they want the car they will buy it from the passenger seat and it will sell easer and faster that way. People will see how you are about the car and will buy it because they will know that no one has beat it. Like some TIRE KICKER

I never had a sale go south because I would not let them test drive the car first.
