Trueness.
What I'm thinking is that the 15% of oxygen that gloms some H2O, may be enough reason to go to Nitrogen.
I'll run with Nitrogen on my next track event and report the results.

We had a company come to our shop, for a S2000/Nsx meet, to talk about the same benefits that Captain Chip showed in the article he posted, and that Jesusphish spoke about.

True, in MOST, not all places the Moisture rich Air to inflate your tires is free. But as most Automotive manufacturers make advances in extending services for different parts of the car, such as, 100K before you change the coolant, up from every 30k coolant change on most vehicles. Spark plugs on a number of vehicles are up from changing every 30k to now every 60k, or some case every 90k. We typically pay more for these advances. Even longer life oil, from every 3k to 4k miles to change oil, to Mobil and Amsoil selling oil that supposedly last every 15k miles between oil changes.

Now we have Moisture Free NITROGEN. Now when someone brings tires to be balanced, thats been pumping all that FREE Air in their tires, that builds up enough Moisture/Water over time, that it acts as a moving wheel weight, and you cant properly balance the tire until you break the tire down remove the Moisture/Water from the tire that the Free Air causes. Not to also mention, tires that Leak air between the bead of the Tire and Rim because of the rust that the Free Air, that has Moisture/Water causes.

Guys that work at tire shops, see the PROBLEMS that FREE Air causes more than I do.

Yes Air contains Tons of Nitrogen, and other problems also. 80% Nitrogen in air is good in a number of cases, but not good enough in all cases.

Availability of Nitrogen can cause issues. Not everyone has it. Also it can cost More than $40 depending on where you go to get it. But all the Free extras that came with the purchase mentioned earlier in the thread, far outweigh the minimal $40. Especially if you travel a lot.

By the way, i'm cheap like you too Air in my tires. But not for long By the way i dont know you, so I dont mean you are cheap litterally. Just figure of speech, lol. Also dont know if you are a Auotmotive Technician as I am, and have the chance to see the problems that Air in tires does cause. I've been seeing it 15 or 16 yrs.

To each their own.

Been using it in aircraft for years. Another benefit although I hope no one ever tests it here in the forums is that nitrogen filled tires will not catch fire, like a tire with air in it will. 32 bucks at Duval Honda, and free checks and top off for the life of the tire, unfortunately for me my tires last a couple months so not really helping me, but all the bickering over 30 or 40 bucks make me feel like I am in the clubsi.com forums.... I agree with James. Worth it and a good product.

Not a flame in any way (you know me Charles), but I think the issue with air vs. nitrogen is the water that's also in the air and not in the nitrogen. That's what the little blurb I saw on Speed about running nitrogen in your tires said anyway.

The N2 that they put in the tires is dry N2. No moisture.

FWIW - I have a friend who races a stock car in the FASCAR series. They run nitrogen because, as mentioned earlier, as the tire heats up during the race regular air expands and causes the pressure to rise. Nitrogen does not expand near as much so the tire pressure remains much more constant during the race. They run it in NASCAR too. And airplane tires, as mentioned. That's all I know.
