2nerworks in Tampa is the shop you're thinking of, one of their specialties is S2000s.

I wouldn't trust Cool and Deadly to change my oil, the guy who owns the shop is good but the people under him suck. That's what happened to NRG, Sean was awesome but only played arond with his toys and let his f***up friends work on cars without monitoring anything. Once they messed up enough cars he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and opened a shop there!

Yeah i moved here from Ft. Lauderdale and i knew one guy that had a shop that i trusted. But he wasn't the cheapest. But he didnt do too many turbo setups. He did upgrades but not too many N/A to Turbo setups. Yeah I've been warned too much about cool and deadly to trust them anymore.

I know 50/50 Motorsports (or something like that) in GA is supposed to be very good at building turbo setups, and I'm pretty sure that they've done at least one turbo S2000. I saw a vid of them dyno'ing that S2000 they have with the 2JZ (Supra motor) swap though ... the clamp was bad on the piping and one of the pipes blew off, knocking off half of the front bumper ... then one of the guys there says something like "We better not tell [the owner] about that one" -- so I might not trust them either.

Yeah, but there was a HUGE thread in the S2000 Talk forum bashing him for shotty work (apparently the guy ordered a 2JZ S2000, flew in from NJ to pick it up, and it was not even running yet). Apparently the guy who runs 50/50 works out of his garage at his house...

I have seen some of his work (in pics), and it does look clean, so take that for what its worth... He did say that an all Honda stroker kit is possible with the crank of a K24 and connecting rods of an H22... dont know if it has been tested, though.

Yeah there's an article in one of the tuner mags (I forget cuz I read so many!) about that stroker swap, it was pioneered by Carillo (the engine builders for the RS*R drift car, among others). I don't think anybody has tried reving it to 9k though, they were reving theirs to just over 8k.

I was talking to the guy over at 50/50 about possibly doing the kit, but that was before he was killed in that thread. He was also really promoting his work, and was not a sponsor...

He said that it could rev to 9k.... the only parts really replaced are the crank and connecting rods (still use f20c pistons). The k24 crank he said was plenty sturdy and the connecting rods were from a Prelude, which is up around 8k to start with (tuners have apparently upped it without swapping the connecting rods). The only difference is the piston speed, which would put extra stress on the crank and the connecing rods (pistons are proven at those speeds).

Yeah Ive seen the video of 50/50's S2K with the 2JZ. He builds them right there in his driveway. He takes it for a ride down the street but the top is down so you dont get to hear anything but wind. It dyno'd in at around 900 was it? I also seen the video where the front bumper comes off. I thought they were in the panhandle in florida. Not georgia.

Oh yeah, ok cool I dunno why I thought it was GA.

There was a big thread on here about that budget stroker swap, a lot of guys were talking about how iffy they were on the connecting rods actually holding up at 9k, for some reason that swap makes the stroke so long that they said the rods wouldn't be able to hold up, Carillo went to 9k on their race swap but they had custom rods (same size as H22 rods), even with the custom rods though it's still a pretty cheap swap if you can find a good deal on the crank.

The real stress is on the connecting rods, as all of the added displacement is coming from stroke as opposed to bore. Higher piston speeds = greater stress on its connection to the crank at each power stroke.

I would only consider this if I were to add boost (hopefully later this summer) .
