^agreed.

Rob I did not mean any harm in saying anything about the Tampa shops. I just knew this was the second time I have seen a post about a member looking for advise after have work done in that area.

Threads like this make the consumer aware. In the end the consumer should do their own research before making a choice on where to have their car worked on. If I were in the area and needed work I would at least give them a call since I have heard many good things from happy customers.

Viv actually called me en-route to ask advice. From how I understood it, the shaking got worse in a hurry while she was traveling and that she brought the car to S&R with hopes they could fix the less-than-scary shaking previously mentioned. I suggested her posting a thread to ask advice because she DIDN'T want to throw S&R under the bus and wanted advice on how to handle this.

SHOULD they have caught this? She didn't notice when looking under the car on the ground. It seems odd that they had the car in the air and didn't mention steel belts worn through. I don't think it's possible to do that amount of damage with a few hundred miles of driving after an alignment.

I personally didn't know how to handle it and suggested she ask here since we're all friends before she went accusing them of anything over the phone.

Call me stupid (most do) but if or when I have work done on my car (any car) and something happens to it that is remotely related to the work I had done my first phone call and or personal visit is with the shop that performed the work.

Sometimes the problem is not the problem but how you handle the problem is the problem.

I handle similar situations with our sales offices and if a customer has a complaint I want to know about it. I want an opportunity to determine what happened and how to resolve it.

I would much rather have a customer tell the story of the problem they had and how we responded to resolve & rectify it than tell about the problem alone.

I am not defending S&R nor am I attacking Viv just stating my views on how I believe and how I think most businesses believe problems should be handled.

Trust me ... it is. Again, if the alignment is compromised that kind of wear can happen VERY quickly. I'll try to dig up a pic of my old Nitto's that were on my EJ Coupe. The toe was out by only a little bit and wore down almost as much as Viv's tire in about 70 miles.

Barry,
I agree, and would have suggested she gone back, except for the fact she was half way across the country. At that point, a phone call to the shop to say 'didn't you see this' seemed kinda like a wash to me.

You know how anal I am about my car and any repairs that are done...this was just a weird situation due to the circumstances she was facing, being stranded at a wal-mart in the middle of no-where. I'm not trying to stir stuff up.

[QUOTE=Bandiscoot,Nov 23 2009, 02:04 PM] Trust me

So, she might want to get her alignment checked again if it chewed those tires that quickly...right?

Just out of safety - "safer than sorry" - HELL YA, I would!

It may offer some answers. Have Viv get the print out of the before and after alignments...
