Euro spec doesn't wear tires. I seriously doubt the tires went from "low tread" to broken belts in one day due to Euro spec alignment.

Let me put it a different way serious miles on one alignment and then a big change on worn tires will wear them differently.

I repeat there was no belt showing and it was pointed out that the tires were worn. You have no idea how many people come in with worn out tires and won't buy new ones. What more can we do? The tires were worn out and the customer was told so.

There is a difference between cords showing and broken belts. You can have broken belts with no cord showing.

I am guessing she had broken belts due to extreme toe out before she came in there.

Maybe, but broken belts are hard to tell without taking the wheel off and spinning the tires.

We can back and forth about what the problem was and Viv is more than welcome to call us or PM me so we can talk about it.

Other than that this thread serves no purpose.

Jeff-

I hope that you take my comments not as criticism nor placing blame on your (or your shop/employees) but something to consider in the future:

I think that if a shop notices something 'wrong' with a vehicle, they, at the very least, should make the customer sign a waiver that points out those issue(s).

For example, Bobby (or the tech that worked on Viv's S2000) should have made Viv sign a waiver stating the condition of her tires before the work was done and their recommendation(s) about those tires. In this day & age of cell phone cameras, her tire condition could/should have been noted before any work was done. Same way a print out of the before alignment specs and after alignment specs should have been given to Viv, and a copy kept by you.
Good points! I don't know about a wavier because lots of people don't want to get stuff done we recommend need done and a wavier would get to be a pain and a lot of paperwork to keep up with.

We will look into taking pics and storing them on the hard drive.

Good responses Jeff. I hope this helps to clear things up.

Also, it is not uncommon for a car to hit a pot-hole or other distressing factor to knock the alignment out. I'm not saying it happened ... just saying it is another possibility to could have contributed to the increased tire wear.

I run a split between the US and Euro alignment specs. I do drive a bit agreessively at times ... but, for the last 10k miles I've been pretty conservative and I have already worn through a set of HTRZ III's. S2000's make it EASY!

I am going out today to look for all sorts of stuff but I am in Narita and it is not very big.

Now back to the problem.

I just spent half a months salary to call the shop.

It appears that the tech and Bobby did tell Viv that she needed new tires. She was even looking at my wheels in the shop because she knew she needed new tires. I have two techs and Bobby confirm that was true.

The car was dropped off and Bobby asked her if she wanted European specs and she said yes. The tires were worn but not showing any cord.

Bobby is busy still work well after hours and assured me that if he had known she was driving a long distance he would have mentioned that Euro specs would not have been good on worn tires for a long drive.

Everyone here knows that with worn tires it would not take anytime to wear through a thin thread on the inside.

Viv I am sorry you had a problem but at this point i don't see what we can do.

1.) You agreed to European Specs. Most S2000s that come to us do this to drive more agressive and know it wears the tires more. Maybe you didn't and we should have told you.

2.) You were told that you needed new tires and didn't replace them.

3.) There was no cord showing at the time of the alignment and so there was no danger when thew car left the shop. Bobby says he didn't know you were driving as far as you did on those worn tires or he would have been more insistant that you needed to replace them.

In the future when someone comes in we will make sure they know what European specs are and the good and bad side of doing it.

This is not ment to bash Viv in any way, this is just stating what happened.
well... some of this stuff is false. and i have another s2ki member who was there with me to back me up. you should have PM'd me.
I just PM'd you.

The Op post here about a problem with a shop, the community weighs in on what they think might have happened, the shop owner responds with their side of the story, the Op responds that the shop owners response is not factual/truthful and states "you should have PM'd me".

Quite frankly this whole thing should have been via PM, phone calls and or personal visits to get the issue resolved. While it is important for the outcome to be reported to the community we contribute nothing to the process of getting it resolved.

This is obviously an ongoing battle; I am locking this thread, once the issue is resolved feel free to post a new thread with the outcome and your personal experience as that is important to the community.
