Pulled over
I recieved two tickets. One for passing w/a solid yellow line (another BS one, because the road was straight and the only solid yellow line was right after a shallow curve. I passed after the curve obviously! The ticket for the exhaust reads as followed, "Improper Mufflers". That's it. He didn't have db meter. He was just being an a-hole. While one cop was writing the ticket, the other one was standing there picking his nose, then pulled out a knife and started cleaning his fingernails! I was like.. WTF!!!! My taxpayer dollars well spent on two yahoo's like that. I'm assuming when I fight this in court that he will base his argument on how loud it is. And everyone knows that the invidia is well over the 72-79 db range stated in the posted law that Primogen posted up! (Thanks Primo) Penalty for the ticket is 76.50 which doesn't require an appearance in court... So technically, I could pay the fine and go on my merry way and never swap back to my stock. But I want to stick it to these two cops and win this battle. So basically - if they didn't have a db meter, they can't prove it was louder than stock. I win? And I thought the invidia was legal in all states. Hmm.. I'm off to research. I'll post up once I get all the info. My thanks to everyone who chimed in. All of it was good info to ponder and digest.

What sucks even more is that they won't stop domestic cars with super loud exhaust... A guy at the local meet here got stop by the cops right in front of us and only got a ticket for illegal acclerlation from a stop light... stupid shit man
next thing you know they'll start smashing the tail-lights as they walk around the car!
sounds like and FTO setting an example for a recruit.
Also, almost every 'after market' product comes with a disclaimer about our responsibility (as consumers) to check with local laws. That's their way of saying they know the product is NOT legal in some situations. Unfortunately, no law is black and white anymore. Or ... maybe that's a good thing.
Good luck.

The law states ANYTHING not OEM is subjected to be "Unlawful" on the vehicle if operated on public highways. This is how the state statue reads. My sis is a paralegal and she read the statue and explained it in detail to me. Now you know I go against the grain, but what Primo has stated is a viable question to mention to the officer. Now it may ruffle his feathers and he may want to make an example out of you, but in the end THEY will win with the way the law reads.
What we need to be considering after this exhaust issue is cleard up is the state bringing back emissions to Florida in the next few years....that will put a clamp on the mods, but I will find a way around it.
Peace Out......

Someone in the JDM forum/section posted something that you can use to show the exhaust was tested by the manufacturer and was found to be compliant.. I dont have the link saved. I think Giff posted it from Bulletproof.

If they cant test you exhuast at that time they can give you a ticket... Take it to court as the the db reading and if they can not give one you will be let loose...
