I would change the pads and flush the brake fluid at the very least. I had the dealership flush my brakes and it was only $79 and it was done in an hour. The pads are easy to change.

You are going to want to enjoy your car to the fullest up there....DO NOT TAKE CHANCES!!!!!

One of my friends and I are going to drive The Dragon in a couple weeks. My front shocks are on their way out, and my brake pads could do with a replacement, too. I don't have time to replace all of these things before we go.

My question is: will I be ok? I know it's a challenging road, and right now my car is fine (although the limits are not as extreme as normal). I just don't know how difficult the road is on cars, and I don't want to find out I'm in over my head halfway through the run.

Increase your life insurance so your wife can finally afford that Austin Martin she wanted so bad lol
ehhh he should be fine..The only deaths on the Dragon have all been motorcycles Would still stink to roll a S down a cliff. lol

I would say do the brakes. My cars struts have 147k on them and i still got 1st place in an autocross and finished 4th out of 75. Trust me the shocks will be fine

im not sure if this is 100% true as i cant speak about the dragon itself. however on 28, just a mile away from the dragon on the way to the fontana lodge, a few years ago a guy went off in a saturn sky killing the passenger

I would want my car is the best condition possible, would recommend that you should do both brakes and shocks. It's your life and your passenges that you have to think about.

If I was you I'd honestly replace both (If you think they are both in bad shape). When I went I wished I had put new rotors on as at the end of the 11 miles I was starting to feel it pulsate.

I grew up on the dragon during my summers as a teenager(family friends own a cabin overlooking lake Fontanna), and that's what they have always been told, but then again, i've also been told to never believe anything you hear.lol.
So 3 members really went off the edge during this years WTD?
