So what I'm gathering is that it's more of a driver error danger, but if I crash and/or die because I didn't get my brake pads and shocks replaced, it's my own fault. My coilovers should be in by then, so I really just need my brakes checked out. Is there a way to check rotors without pulling them to measure thickness?

Kind of off topic, but are you going with a guy named Joe who drives a Z28 (and works at Pizza Hut)?

He invited me to go and told me there was another S2000 going. After seeing this I am thinking its you. Just curious.

Funds permit me from going, but have fun! Wish I could go.

Yup, that's me! Funds might actually prohibit me from going, too. Moving has all kinds of unforeseen expenses.

i'd call driving an unmaintained vehicle "driver error" also, if your struts and brakes are bad, why procrastinate? taking a subpar vehicle on a long trip and for spirited driving doesn't sound like a great idea. you got time to go out of town for driving but no time at home for minor vehicle maintenance? you got a couple of weeks, git-r-dun!

Yeah I know it sounds like I'm just lazy, but I'm not. My coilovers are being custom valved, they won't be done in time. The brakes I technically could do, but they're not that bad, probably another 10-20k miles left in the fronts, and rears were just replaced. I wouldn't feel comfortable tracking it, but I downshift a lot and these brakes are still pretty grabby, I think I was just working myself up over nothing. Shocks are getting noisy now in front, they'll need to be replaced ASAP.

I'd get a set of more aggressive pads, and replace your fluid with a high temp fluid. Boiling fluid is very easy to do. Also how are your tires? 10 miles on the dragon is like dog years, it's equal to at least 70 on the highway. And that's when you are driving the dragon like my grandpa. If you even approach the limit or fun zone, expect excessive wear on tires and brakes.

Good advice, thanks. I have high temp fluid, I'm a firm believer in it (I have Project Mu fluid btw, awesome stuff! I got it at Kamispeed super cheap). My tires are doing great, but they are definitely street tires. I ended up not being able to make the trip (still waiting on the coilovers), but that just allows me to set it up properly for next time. In the meantime, I'll probably be at the next Gainesville Raceway event if anyone wants to track their S, it's a great track for S2000s.
