The book calls for 24.8 hours for the rebuild which includes reworking the head also. You will need to have the head cleaned and decked.

An AP2 short block retail at Honda is $3518.

R&R short block is about 18 hours.

The labor is right per the book and $75 an hour is not bad. More than likely when the motor hydro locked it scartched a cylinder wall which the over bore is not much on these motors. 87mm-87.5. Not many can be rebuilt. You will probably need at least one rod and honda pistons are not cheap.

Make sure they have rebuilt S2000 motor not just Hondas.

I would bet they get it apart and you need another motor. Cheapest is to find a used one and replace it. www.car-part.com

A short block is the best route but it is still 3k plus reworking the head, head bolts, gasket set and 17 hours labor.

I hope this helps.

Yes, the old block is worth a couple hundred to be a core and the head is about $350.

come on man, do you really trust "ebay" to get a working engine? man you can get the engine locally from a trusted source.
