Damn why so much money?? I don't get it. I know I for sure payed under $300.
Anyone know what it costs when your registration is up to renew? I am moving to NY but plan to keep FL insurance and registration so will sign up for 2 years before moving.
I am pretty sure that is illegal. I know if you live and work in Florida, your car must be regitered here. At one big company that I worked for, the Sheriff would cruise the parking lot monthly to check for out of state tags that were there for successive moths. A few people got nailed.

Also ....your insurance company could choose not to pay if you are not upfront with them.

I think as long as you have a Florida mailing address you should be ok. You will get Florida tags upon registering so i don't think you have to worry about the above message.

from what i have come to understand through my friend who sell auto insurance this can be done easily. There is one problem, and it couuld be a biggie, liability. Apparently if you have your car insured/registered in one state but you have another adresses in another state and the other state is where the car is kept most of the time your insurance company could deny you coverage in an accident. Lets say you are insured/Registered in FL but the car is never down there it always at your other address, say in MA. Then you get in an accident in MA, people get hurt, the insurance company will do an investigation. If they find that the car is not in FL but in MA most of the year, they can deny you coverage for the accident. NOT GOOD. That means you may be liable for damages ect out of your own pocket. This is the chance that one takes for registering the car in another state.

Bingo! It's not worth the risk.
